| Heartworm/Flea Prevention What do you use for heartworm prevention and flea prevention? Does anyone use Sentinel? I am looking to find a new one, my dog is on a generic heartworm that the vet sells, but I would like something new... Also, if you buy online, where are the cheapest prices? Thanks!! |

| We don't use anything for fleas (Ellie is almost always inside and lymes isn't a big threat here). When we see fleas, then Frontline Plus. Interceptor for heartworm (Sentinel without the lufenuron, so it doesn't offer any flea protection).

| Isn't it the shot that is supposed to help prevent this? No deterrant will be 100%, but getting the shots should help?

| I have been using heartgard plus for heartworm prevention and comfortis for fleas. I used to use frontline plus but it doesn't work very well. It wouldn't even last a month sometimes. I have been using comfortis for 6 months now and it works great. I haven't seen 1 flea since I started using it. I bought it for my mom and grandparents to give to their babies and they are both very pleased. I just found out about sentinel and I like the idea of just one pill to take care of the heartworm and flea prevention plus it protects against other worms also. Comfortis was between $60-$70 for 6 months and I usually pay about $20 for 6 months of heartgard. I have found Sentinel for around $60 for 6 months so it will save money if it works. | Hi there! I use a product called "revolution"by pfizer. I bought it from the vet and it's really easy to use. First off it protects dogs from fleas, ear mites, sarcoptic mange mites, tick and prevents heartworm disease and roundworms. It's basically a liquid which is in a mini vial and I dispense it on the top of Coco's back once a month for 6 months. So far so good, he hasn't had a problem with this at all and keeps me from worrying. Ask your vet about it he should be able to give you detailed information |

| I'm using heartguard for Sophie and Taffy (my peke), and Interceptor for Jacie. Advantage for fleas.

| I've used Sentinel for 4 toy dogs (for over 14 years) with good results and no side affects.

| My Maddie uses Sentinel and we have had good luck with it. If I print out the lowest price I can find on-line and bring it to the vet with me when it is time for her refill, the vet's office will match the price I bring in rather than writing a prescription for me to use on-line. It has save me a lot of money and time. I go ahead and buy a year's supply at the lower cost. Maybe it would be worth it to ask your vet? |
