| Jada ate cat poop!!! DS is home from college for the summer. We have his cat Max with us for the summer too. He stays on the sun porch and we don't let the furbutts out there with him unless we are with them. His litter box and food is out there too. We have been doing yard work this morning and I let the furbutts out there and let Max come in the house. I completely forgot about the litter box(the food is up where Jada and Bogie can't get to it.) I caught Jada eating poop out of the litter box. I don't know how much. I don't think it was a lot.Do I need to be concerned or take her into the vet before they close? She seems fine, but I am worried she will get a bad tummy ache or something.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | While it's possible to raise the bacteria level in her intestines by ingesting cat poop...at this point...one isn't going to hurt her. You need to find another spot for the litter box...cause she is likely to develop quite the taste for ....what we call....kitty box crunchies.

| The only thing i'd be worried about is the litter itself- it can expand in her intestines and cause a blockage- i'd watch her VERY carefully. When we housesat a cat I got a natural litter that was safe if ingested by Layla. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I read up on this a long time ago - cat poo is preferred due to the high protien content - YUM ! I wouldn't let them eat it if you can catch them - you may want to call the vet also to let them know - That's what I did the one and only time my puppy Cheri did this - I have cats in the apt I live in now and on constant alert for 'snacks' - they don't seem to outgrow the impulse so good luck ! |
