Does Natural Balance contain Ethoxyquin ?

NB has stated and another thread has the letter from NB, that it DOES NOT
have Exoythcoin in their food, fish products yes(due to government regulations) but not the regular foods.

I think some of the confusion comes from NB's response like the one in post 29 of the thread I linked earlier. In it, they acknowledge using E and just say the amount depends on the variety - they never say it's ONLY used in certain foods.

Natural Balance's response

All our products come from the human food chain and are therefore in compliance with the FDA/USDA regulations. The safe levels for pet foods established by the governing agencies is at 150 ppm. We have tested our products for ethoxyquin levels. Ethoyquin in Natural Balance products are dependent on the particular variety and range at less than 5ppm. These amounts are much lower than the safe level established by the governing agencies for pet foods. Have a great day!

Your post # 10 in this thread cleared it up for me when their first sentence limited the use of E to foods containing fish products. I was very confused at first - I thought their responses conflicted each other. I had to read them several times before I saw the difference.

As I said before, I think NB is a good food so I was glad to finally figure that one out.

I’ll correct myself…It all depend on the type you use, if it has fish or salmon meal in it then it does……If it has no fish meal or salmon meal then it does not…….

That's the way I've read it. Nature's Variety for example says neither they nor their suppliers use E but I forget why they say they can do that - I'll try to find the email I got from them. Other companies say that the government requires them to use E. ????

That was a very potent article and I enjoyed reading it.
I totally agree with her arguments over E.

50yrs ago this country was healthy. Now so many are sick and on
prescription drugs. Cancer is rampant. I truly believe the pesticides
that the government is jamming down our throats, threw food,
water and air is making us sick. I hope we can get some kind of
control before it's too late.

I talked to natural balance on the phone yesterday and they told me their food does NOT contain Exthoxyquin. They said that they perserve the fish meal with a natural peservative that contains vitamin E. They gave me the name but I forgot what it was bc I was hanging on the words No Exthoxyquin! I was just very glad that they said they did not use that to preserve their food.

I honestly think that if people are worried about the Ethoxyquin than just don't buy food that contains fish meal bc that is what the Ethoxyquin is used for from what I understand.
