If you have a specific recipe, I would love for you to share it with me. Trixie is eating Royal Canin right now since that is what she was eating at the breeders. She is doing well on it, but if I could figure out what to put in her food and make it myself, I would do it. I would appreciate your sharing your recipe, if you don't mind.

For those needing a smaller kibble size, or a lower protein content, have you considered the Nature's Variety lines - Prairie & Instinct? Or Fromm's?

I was very happy with FROMM before I had to switch to low protein and may just try the chicken formula now which is lower protein, that is probably the next step, seeing if they like it.

Not defending P and G, but do want to say it is a huge part of the Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky area's economy. I have many friends that are employed by P and G. Here's hoping that this corporation has learned a lesson and will use best practices.

We just switched to Fromm. We bought the pork and so far the dogs are liking it! We are also trying Primal!

I home feed. Get my chicken minced from a butcher. Cook my own veges to add to the mix, and then add the requisite supplements, omega 3 6 9 and also glucosamine and chondrotin.

I started the home feed program because my first male after about 1.4 yrs started having incredible diarehea on all the top brand kibble.

We are happy with his health, and the health of our other two dogs on home feeding.

It takes some time, but is no more costly than a high quality kibble. And I know whaat I am feeding my dogs!!

I'm sorry and this probably sounds stupid but y is this bad?? other than another small business lost.. and won't you still be able to get the current brands u r using???

Agreed! We have been long time fans of home cooked. We've got medical issues and without home cooked, we'd be in big trouble! We make our batches in bulk, and I stuff the food into ice cube trays. I then store the "cubes" in vacuum zip lock bags and they stay nice and fresh at deep freeze. I figure out how many cubes each baby needs for each meal and just defrost as needed! No dog food for us AT ALL anymore.

If you do find one, let me know who it is. Right now, not one soul on the planet have conducted tests to find out what a canine's needs really are. I've been home cooking for dogs for over 50 years, and am still learning. I've never had a dog become ill or develope health problems on real food, but if you look at the statistic's, you will find health related problems and even death due to dog food. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Hi... the brands will likely still be available but knowing who will now own and run them I will no longer be able to trust their quality.

Im glad your happy with your choices, everyone should be.

All I said is that I am not comfortable taking that step with my dogs without a professional guiding me. I have now been given the contact info. for an animal nutritionist so I will be contacting them.

I don't even own ice trays, but that's a great idea. I just put 1/4 cup per dog twice a day, enough to last five days in a zip-loc brand plastic container. Soon as I open a thawed one, I pull out a frozen one and place in the ref.. By the time the first one is gone, the next one is thawed. I just use a 1/4 measuring cup to dip the food out. I also like putting baby bok-choy, fresh carrot, baby spinach and kale in the food processer to chop fine and add some to their food. (I also use other fresh veggies too). I shop at the farmers market every week for nice veggies that are in season for us and the girls.

Besides that fact that P&G foods like Iams are horrible quality products, they're also guilt of animal testing and animal cruelty (you can google this and find all the heart-wrenching stories). Innova was a well respected company with an excellent reputation. Now they're associated with a company of the opposite reputation. Many people will stop feeding Innova products because they refuse to do business with a company with Iam's animal cruelty history, or because they fear a huge decline in the quality of food Innova will be producing.
