| I think Natural Balance Vegetarian and California Natural are all around 21%. Liver problems? Because the type of protein is just as important if not more so...

| I was on a mission to find a low protein food awhile back and here are some I found with their protein percentages next to them: California Natural Lamb Meal and Rice, Small Bites: 21 % California Natural Chicken Meal and Rice, 21 % Solid Gold Holistique Blendz Adult Dog (fish), 18 % FROMM Whitefish and Potato, 23% Honest Kitchen Force, 22 % Honest Kitchen Verve, 22% Honest Kitchen Keen, 20% If it is liver issues you are dealing with I would immediately knock out the Lamb food, the Solid Gold because of Ethoxiquin concerns, and the HK Verve because it is made with beef.

| Not necessarily. It depends on the preference of the owner and the individual dog. Some do well on high protein and others seem to not be able to tolerate it. There are concerns about high protein diets causing liver and kidney issues, but it appears that hasn't been proven true yet. I personally prefer to be cautious and would probably stay in the 20's for my dogs, but that's just me.
