| Ticks?? Recently, I brought Olive on a trip with me to my Nana's. She has 2 golden retrievers and my parents have a 1 year old shih tzu. All of them are up to date on shots, and take flea, tick, & heartworm treatments. Olive is also up to date on her shots and heartworm meds, but the vet said it was only necessary for her to have flea treatment (not ticks). Olive and I slept in a bed at my Nana's together for the weekend and she said she found 2 ticks in the bed! This concerned me but I also wondered by the ticks were just in the bed and not latched on to either me or Olive. My parents' shih tzu was also on the bed playing with Olive on several occasions. My vet said if it was just this one incident not to worry about it, especially if I can't find any actually on Olive. She said if I actually find a tick or two, to start her on flea AND tick meds. What do you all think? Should I just put her on flea and tick meds anyway? |

| I would get her treated. As you know I live in FL too. I had that happen last year when I got Max. The vet said we didn't really need tick treatment since we don't usually have a tick problem in our area. Well within a week I had a tick problem...it took about 2 months to get it under control and that's with Max on K9 Advantix. I don't know how small Olive is, but its a good idea since we're seeing temps in the 80s these days and its about that time of year for fleas and ticks. I don't think it will be an isolated incident, JMO. Good luck

| You never know where ticks are lurking, I had lyme disease 4 years ago and never saw a tick or the rash and I was not tested until I had symptoms. I never want my babies to experience that. I give them frontline in the warmer months.
