| Yearly vaccines I haven't been on here for quite some time. I had surgery in Jan and again in Feb. Nothing serious. I had torn miniscus in my knee, and had to have the bursa removed from my hip. It was very inflamed with lots of hard scar tissue. Tucker went in for his yearly shots yesterday. I panicked a little when I saw at least 4 syringes lined up on the table. That didn't include Bordetella. He got that too. He was sick this AM, throwing up quite a bit. I just think that's too much for these little guys. They get the same amount that an 80 lb Lab would get. But what can one do? You get a card from the vet when shots are due, and they just sock it to them. He was such a brave little boy, though. He didn't even whimper. You know, I think he actually likes going toi the vet. He loves to meet new people and dogs. He loves everyone. It's not that he doesn't get our almost constant attention at home. My husband and I are devoted him, and we are both retired. He's just so very sociable. |

| I'm sorry he's not feeling well When Jackson was a pup they gave him the DHLPP shot and he had a bad reaction to the 'L' part (Lepto). A lot of small dogs do. I would never get it again~ Jackson just gets DPP (I think?) now, along with Rabies (but at different times). A lot of us Yorkie owners will only get the totally necessary vaccines and I would never get Rabies on the same day!

| Hope your little furbaby is doing better...poor little thing and so brave too. When Lexi had to have her yearly shots my Vet spaced them out which I was so thankful for. She goes on Monday for her rabie shot all by itself he thinks it is better that way as she is small. Give him hugs from us Cheryl & Lexi |

| I forgot to add, too, that we never get the lepto. Just to make sure that someone forgets to look at the chart, I kindly remind them. We get the rabies later in the year, too. We get the shots every other year. I wish they'd go to every three, at least.

| I had Jackson at the vet on Monday for his 1 year booster shots and she told me they were good for the next 3 years? Is it different where you live? Jackson didn't get the rabies until a few months after he completed his puppy shots so he's not due for his next rabies until May, I think.

| To answer your, "What can we do" question, we can say no. You can research the newest protocols and tell your vet that you will not be doing it the old way anymore. You are your pup's advocate. Every three years (after one year booster) isn't a bad schedule for DHPP. It's a compromise. With the exception of rabies, Ellie will not be vaccinated anymore for anything unless I start to get really nervous about it. She is eight. I am not recommending this, but it just goes to show that many schedules are available to choose from.
