| Does anyone premedicate before vaccinations? Does anyone give their babies Benedryl before shots routinely? Mine hurt so bad after 12wk vaccinations you couldn't touch her and all she did was sleep all evening, wouldn't eat and every time she moved she would cry.She is due for last set of shots in 1 wk and I dread it. She is gonna be so scared of the vet. |

| Yes, after a reaction, we had to start. It is a good thing to do, but may not do much for pain. The vet could possibly give you pain meds for this.

| I used to pre-medicate w/liquid benadryl, before shots, just to be on the safe side...However, my vet, now, said you really can't get enough of the liquid in them to be useful, so she gives a pre-med benadryl injection, if shot warrants it...Yesterday, Apple had her DHPP and got a shot of benadryl, but Buzz just had a parvo booster, so he didn't get the benadryl shot...I would, definitely, pre-medicate, before rabies... |

| We def get a benadryl shot before vaccines. Our vet highly recommends it for the little ones. We thought we would not get one for our boston, but was told bostons were prone to get bad reactions so we now get them for all our dogs.

| My vet gives us steroids for the little ones before their shots. Then after the shot we stay there at the vets for about another 35 minutes just to make sure everything is going well. |

| Yes we have to pretreat as well as my Armani has really adverse reactions to vaccinations. She is herself the next but the day of the vaccinations is terrible.

| I always get the Diphenhydramine injection along with any vaccinations. Soph has never had a problem, knock wood, but better safe than sorry. |

| I give my dogs Benadryl before they get their shots. My Shih Tzu always gets a lump at the injection site. Benadryl helps to minimize her bad reactions to the shots. |

| We do not pre med for vaccines. We have never had an adverse reaction in any of our dogs so haven't had to pre med.

We do the shot, not the liquid. I have been told that the liquid may be okay, but haven't really looked into it. After the issue we had, I'd probably just go ahead and do it for any small dog, esp. before rabies and lepto.
