| Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | Well I got samples of both the red meat and the fish. Both are grain free and chicken free. I used the red meat one and mixed it half and half last night and this morning. They liked it. Actually all of them ate that first. So far no problems with switching, no runny poos. My only concern is I only have one small pet store that carries it. I got online to find on line stores. They carry the fish but not the red meat. So now Im thinking of maybe mixing the red meat and fish varieties together, it would give them a variety, and just in case I couldnt get the red meat I can always get the fish. I think all Im doing is confusing myself ![]() Jump right in with opinions....Im in it now, we need a change. |

| Mine all loved the FROMM surf and turf, they did great on it, and their coats looked amazing... now that they have been diagnosed with MVD, it has too much protein and we had to switch and I am really upset because nothing compares now to how they were doing on the surf and turf.

| I have to change food too. They're all doing well on NB Sweet potato & Venison, but they recently changed the formula to contain more potato fiber & protein bc venison meat is scarce. I also am looking for something w/out chicken (Momo & Princess has allergies) & not too high in protein. Mine loved Evo red meat, but the protein level is too high, some do well on it & some don't. Mine don't have liver issues, but I don't want to risk it. Our local pet store can also order food that they don't carry, but they have a minimum order depending on the company. For Fromm, I need to order a 15# bag, the duck & sweet potato, but I don't know if they'll like it, they didn't like the NB duck. Last time I emailed them, they didn't have samples, but sent coupons instead. I need something w/out white potatoes & chicken....*sigh*

| I'm using Acana right now. I saw they have lamb and apple for allergies and some different flavors besides chicken. I love this kibble and all 3 of my dogs eat it no problem. |

| I have first hand, through my friend, seen what wonders Natural Balance does for a furbaby. It's what made me choose it for Lucy. I get the L.I.T. line because it is grain free and I feel better about giving her no grains. It's good too because they have a few different flavors so you can mix it up here and there so they don't get bored. They WILL also send you out samples if you ask. The only local "chain" store that would carry it is Petco. Otherwise, if you have a holistic pet store they will carry it as well. If you have neither, you can order it online at several places. Good luck ![]() Kandi Last edited by kandikalistar; 03-07-2010 at 07:54 PM. |

| Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | Well we tried the orijen fish and the dogs really liked that one. Last night was the first time we had straight orijen with nothing mixed. They loved it. Im going tonight after work and purchase a larger bag. Oh and their poop all was good. I understand it takes a few months to see a difference so we are giving it a whirl. |

| My Westie has allergies and Lucy has MVD - so I've finally decided that there is no ONE food that will work for both of them. I just switched Ringo from TOTW to Blue Buffalo Wilderness. He seems to really like the BB and the Wilderness version got fairly high ratings. I notice his poop (TMI) doesn't smell as horrible as it used to on the TOTW. I'm still in the process of switching over . . . so he gets a little of both. For Lucy, I found a Wellness Simple Food Solutions that has 21% protein - much lower than anything Ringo eats. She doesn't like it as well as her (sigh) Purina Puppy Chow .. . . but she's getting used to it. Much less itching going on. Ringo refused to eat the Wellness. For their evening feeding, I give each of them a tablespoon of the Wellness Canned 95% Salmon or Lamb on their respective kibbls. They love it! Both seem to be doing well on these two foods. |

| Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | ok update. Were eating the fish orijen. All seem to like it. We have a bit of soft poo, but I will give it a honest shot. I personally think the fish is too rich for them. I think I may go back to the red meat one. But I dont want to do it without giving them an honest shot at this one. This one really would be healthier for them. Any opinions? |

| How long have they been on orijen fish alone? According to your posts, 3 days? Did they have soft poo for the past 3 days, or just today? If it was the past 3 days, maybe the switching was too fast. Changing food from lower end to premium should be done gradually for 10-14 days. If it was just today, it could be that they ate a little too much. Higher protein foods should produce firm # 2's...& stinky too lol.
