| Just how accurate are these weight formulas? I was wondering, just how accurate are these formulas to determine adult weight I've heard so many like triple the weight at 7 weeks or double at 12 weeks and add an extra pound or whatever they may be. My baby weighs 2.6lbs at 7.5 weeks (well that's what the kitchen scale says!) so that would mean he'd be over 7 lbs. I'm not really bothered, as long as he's healthy The breeder told me he would loose a bit of his puppy weight as he no longer drinks his mothers milk. How true is that? I mean, he doesn't look or feel like he weighs that much. He does look a bit round at the belly but I think all pups are. His parents aren't big either.

| at 12 weeks mine weighed 2.3 lbs, now at 10 months he weighs 5 lbs. He looks skinny to me though, but the vet says he is in perfect shape. He weighed 4.8 for a long time, from 6 to 10 months. Now he has just gained a few ounces all of a sudden, I don't know how, he is a very picky eater. |

| The double 12 week rule worked for us. Jackson was 6lbs at 12 weeks old and is now 12lbs as an adult.

| Not necessarily... Daisy was 2.2 lbs at 8 weeks old = she is 7.5 lbs as an adult Barney was 2.6 lbs at 8 weeks old = he is 9.5 lbs as an adult Teddy was 3 lbs at 10 weeks old and he currently weighs about 7 lbs at 15 mos old. So much for formulas.

| Weight charts work for some breeds. Not so for the Yorkshire Terrier....throw them away......That is unless your dogs are closely line breed and then it's still a guesstimate. The only thing you can count on is that this breed will make a liar out of you everytime.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It didn't work for us. Here's how it went....Marcel's breeder thought he'd turn out to be about 3-3.5 lbs, at the most. I should've just listened . Then Marcel got giardia as a pup, so I became worried about his weight. Well...from the beginning, he was barely on track (via the chart) for reaching 2 lbs., which had me so worried, for so long. So how did he turn out? Yup, about 3.3 pounds .
