| A nine-week-old shouldn't even be away from its mom yet, so he will require extra care. He should be fed a minimum of three to four times a day. Are you just feeding hard dog food or have you tried canned? He needs to eat something or he could go into hypoglycemia. Have you tried Nutrical or karo syrup? This is a quick fix to make sure his glucose stays stable, but he does need regular food.

you can make the kibbles mushy with warm water and then hand feed; if the puppy refuses to eat at all. u can put the food in his mouth to get him to start eating. if worst comes to worst u can add a little fat free cottage cheese and mix with the food. to avoid hypoglycemia give a little bit of honey. make sure he drinks water to avoid dehydration. good luck

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would give in some canned food until he is a little older so he doesn't go hypoglycemic. You can always get him on a good food when he is eating better.

| Just plain chicken broth is fine. If I read it correctly you said the puppy was drinking milk? Milk is not good to give them. I would give just water to drink. Congrats on your little new one

| I'm not so sure milk is good for a puppy that age. Maybe somebody else will say something about that, or you might want to talk to your vet. Whatever, sounds like your little guy is doing better and that's good. Let's see a photo of him. |

| You should always take a new pup to the vet within 48 hours of bringing him home to make sure everything is OK. Hopefully the breeder gave you a vet card with a list of shots that he has had so far so that your new vet knows what else he needs and what he's already been given. Please feel free to PM (private message) me if you have any other questions. I just brought my new baby home, she's 6 months, so we're in the same boat, but I have learned tons of stuff from the members on here, they are so helpful and informative!

| I also agree with taking him to the vet. Otherwise, he's really cute. Looks a lot like Ruger did when I brought him home at 12 weeks. He's now 6 months old. You'll learn fast. I never even had a dog before I got Ruger, and now I think I know too much. |

from what i read; he's not eating his dog food; but he will eat when you mix it with chicken soup; i think he's getting spoiled; yorkies get really picky once they get human food; they will hold out all day to get that. so u have to retrain him to eat the dog food alone. talk to the vet for advice. also i wanted to say give only the necessary vaccines; please be careful of over vaccination; i say that because ava is my first and only dog; and i didnt know better when i got her; i trusted the vet and she got over vaccinated; now she has major health issues that cost so much money. i think ur baby will be fine; no worries good luck

| I would be careful giving him too much of the chicken soup. But if that is the only way he will eat right now.. by all means give it to him. Be aware tho that these little guys really do not eat as much as we think they should. For my 13 week old puppy, I feed him about 1/8 cup of his puppy kibble mixed with a spoonful of wet puppy food and just a bit of warm water to soften it. I feed him this 3-4 times a day. He eats a good bit of it each meal, but rarely will finish it. He is healthy and happy and does not seem hungry between meals. Of course, if I was to offer him a treat he would be all over it, so they are given sparingly.

| You need to take him to the vet ASAP. Don't wait, because you never know if there might be something wrong with him that could get 10 times worse in another week. He is a brand new pup and will be just fine. My Sasha was flown half way across the country to me and you better believe she was at the vet 48 hours later. She was fine, and your dog will be, too. You need to do what's in HIS best interest.
