| How many times to feed a day question. Ruger will be 6 months old in a few days, and the charts say to feed him twice a day instead of the three times a day I've been feeding him. 1. Do I do this over a period of time, or just immediately switch from 3 to 2? 2. Do I feed him the same amount I've been feeding him only divided by two instead of three? (I'm using the Nutro charts as a guide for how much to feed a day.) |

| My girl is 6 months old and I feed her three times a day... but only because she needs to gain about 1/2lb more. Once she gets to 3.5lbs though, I'll only feed her twice a day. I would say anywhere between 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup per feeding, but each dog is different.

| I think it depends how your dog is eating. I fed Sasha 3 times a day up until she was 6 maybe 7 months old. I began to notice that she wasn't really interested in eating around noon time so I cut her feedings down to twice a day instead. As far as the food amount goes, I've heard that the feeding guidelines on the food bags are usually higher than what some people feed. I've never gone by the feeding chart. I just went by how much she would eat during her feedings and made sure she was maintaining a good weight. |

| I feel that three small meals a day is much better than two larger ones.

YT 2000 Club Member | I leave dry out all the time, thier dish holds a cup, cup and half and it takes 3ish days for them to finish it. (they are 4 and 9 pounds) However, I also give them few teapsoons of wet in the a.m and some yogurt with some peices of meat (from NB or fresh pet select). They generally use the dry food as a "snack".
