Food for thought -
Remy did get sick after having 4 medallions from a new bag of NV Venison two weeks ago. I returned the bag to my retailer. They were going to ship it back and have them test it. Have not been back in to see if they had any feedback.

Don't know for a fact it was the food, nor do I know it was salmonella. Both of which I acknowledged when dropping off the used bag of food. He had also gotten into one of my plants around the same time. But I was not going to risk a re-occurrence. After a bland diet for a few days he is back to his usual NV diet, and is fine. No vet visit required.

I had to laugh about the spices and bug parts....I found this out a few months ago.......

Years ago I used to read Consumer Reports, they evaluated foods they would report on for filth ....I couldn't eat cottage cheese for a long time after they said all cottage cheese has a certain amount of feces in it.........

My dad said he toured the facility that makes tomato and V-8 juice, he said they smashed up tomato worms, crickets and all sorts of other bugs in that juice.....I still can't look at that juice without thinking about bugs....Everything manufactured has bugs and/or feces in it.......

Hmmmm, so someone that says they are a vegan and drinks V-8 juice then they really do eat meat

LOL!.....I know some people do eat bugs but I would like the choice if I'm going to eat one......

I was getting so frustrated at all junk I was reading about in food so when my DH and I where in the grocery store looking in the meat case I ask him if he wanted e-coli, mad cow, salmonella, or trichinosis for dinner.....

Lol, tonight we had a little e-coli, and mad cow, usually we eat salmonella, and only occasionally we go for some trichinosis, usually barbequed!

Thanks gals! My school system has started a System Wide Biggest Loser competition between schools. I will make a copy of that FDA guide to give everyone to read when they feel the need to eat.

But now that I think about it...these bug parts are more then likely so miniscule, there is no way to get them off/out of the food while processing. But still...bug skin shells and larvae? Yuck!!
