| ![]() ![]() ![]() Our vet only gives the puppy shots one at a time. Every week or 2 spaced out. She said she does this to be able to tell which shots if any the puppy is having a reaction to so they know what the problem is. She only charges for the shots and not a visit each time the puppy is in for these shots. Then we have to wait in the office at least /2 hour after the shots are given. Also, we chose to not give our dogs the Lepto shot based on info I discovered here on YT and because the vet's staff recommended against it. No combo vaccines are used. Personally, I would find a new vet. ![]()

| ![]() Sorry typo...she makes us wait at least 1/2 hour to 1 hour after a shot is given. And she gives the shots first thing in the morning so that the vets office is open should there be a reaction.

| ![]() I am so very, very sorry for your loss..... I had no idea that vaccines could cause so many reactions, until one of my little ones reacted poorly. (In fact, that is how I found YorkieTalk.) So, relating to your pain and loss. Sending hugs and sympathy your way....

| ![]() I believe it was the shots for sure. How would they explain that she had no symptoms until AFTER the shots were given?? They gave her way too many shots at once and the Lepto is scary even if given all by itself. Corona IMO is not needed at all and only added to this. I am soooo sorry about your baby ![]()

| ![]() I have a breeder friend who let a 12 week old puppy go to their new home last year. She was doing great and the new owner took her to Banfield for her check up. They gave her a parvo/distemper shot as well as a Corona shot. They also did bloodwork and it was normal. The next day the puppy started going downhill. She was hospitalized over the course of 4 days and eventually got so bad that she had to be put down. Her body was sent to a veterinary school state testing lab that has an excellent reputation. A necropsy was done and there were NO abnormalities, no shunting, nothing. The report concluded that the puppy had "hypoglycemia brought on by vaccines". My breeder friend did not have to since the cause was not genetic, but she replaced the puppy. She held onto the next one until she was done with all her vaccines and had had a full blood workup at the breeders vet when she was 4 months old, and the owner went to a different vet. These vaccines DO cause issues in small breed puppies, especially Lepto and Corona. They are both so dangerous and if they are REALLY needed in an area with high incidence of either disease, then they should be given separately from the regular 5 way shot. Vets are too quick to give a 1-2 lb puppy a load of these shots, and they give the same dose to a 100 lb dog. It just doesn't make sense.

Oh yes, she definitely did! I left that part out but she not only tells puppy buyers about the vaccines that they should and shouldnt get, but she gives them paperwork with the information as well in capital letters and goes over it when the puppy is picked up. She did this with that buyer, but when she took the puppy to Banfield they have a discount "package" that includes the vaccines. The buyer said that the vet just gave the puppy the set of vaccines and then gave her a printout when she left of what she had had. They did not even ask her. My friend now makes a point when each puppy leaves to tell her story and to remind each person to TELL their vet which vaccines they want and speak up. It could mean their life!

| ![]() Sad...after the breeders hardwork...I HATE BANFIELD because they make their $$$$ on vaccinations even the ones not needed but in this case they convinced the puppy owner to go ahead.
