| I started the series for Maxwell on the day of the month I was born. 9th. So every month on the 9th, there you go. With my other dog it was tax day, so he got his on the 15th for 13 years. |

| I usually give it the 27th of every month.( Toby's B-Day ) I have forgotten a couple of times for a few days. I like the cell phone reminder idea.

| That is good to know... I'm going to call the vet's office in a little bit and see what they say about the possible missed dosage situation. Thanks!

They told me that one month missed from time to time is no biggie unless you are in a high risk area (like parts of Texas). I did THAT too often and then missed three months in a row! Like I said....I'm mad at myself

| Proheart 6 is back on the market. They changed something about it and it is said to be much safer. I still personally wouldn't even consider giving it to Ellie.

| I have to tape the pill to the calander or I will forget. Those little stickers just get lost in all the other event stickers and writing I have on our calander

| Heartworms aren't a problem in some areas. I would look it up though (should show a map for Canada). If heartworms are an issue at all where you are, then you should absolutely use preventative in my opinion. You aren't a bad mom at all.

I did some research and Alberta has to much extreme weather to carry it apperently...YAY I am relief...Thank you for your help!! Do we have heartworm in Canada? Yes. Heartworm occurs in warmer regions, where summer temperatures are high enough for the worm larvae to survive inside the carrier mosquitoes. The high-risk areas in Canada are southern Ontario, southern Quebec Manitoba, and the Okanagan in British Columbia. Heartworm is also found in most states in the US. Although it is not absolutely certain, it appears that heartworms are unable to survive at prevailing temperatures in Alberta and Saskatchewan. A few cases are diagnosed in these provinces every year, but to date they have all been dogs that have visited or lived in heartworm risk areas.

| Just watch her for any reaction, but I'm sure she'll be fine. Don't worry too much. At least you don't need to worry about it for awhile.

| Update :) Yay! NO heartworms!! The tests were negative!! Happy Dance!! They are on Iverhart Plus and I am taping the pills to a calendar, setting up with a reminder email service, programming it into outlook AND my blackberry!! That should do it!! (If I don't remember it now, then I need to have a full time nurse or something. )

| exactly what i do i know they had this thing for the birth control pill where you keep the pills in the little tin and set the timer and it goes off to remind you. That would probably work too! |
