| Dog food Hello all, I have been looking into adult dog food for my puppy. I was told that Nature's Recipe is a good food. Any thoughts on that? What are some good brands I should consider? If Nature's Recipe is not good, what makes it bad? Sorry if I sound confusing! All your comments/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.... |

| I don't think Nature's Recipe is "bad." It's one of the better foods you can find at a Petsmart store. Things to mainly stay away from (imo)- corn, corn gluten meal, by-products, soy, etc. Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble is a great site. The only thing I don't like about the kibble grading chart is it's not exactly accurate. Nutro, for example, receives an A yet if you google "Nutro consumer affairs" you probably won't want to feed the food. Some brands I recommend are Fromm, Nature's Variety, Merrick's, Wellness, etc.

YT 2000 Club Member | Nature's recipe is an ok food, it does have some decent ingredients in it, its def. not one of the worse foods out there.. I tried it with my dogs and they wouldnt touch it. I have fed many different brands and you may have to also before you find one that your dog will eat. I am feeding EVO wet (dry to my bigger dogs) and Acana, thier grain free line. My dogs are doing great... Most companies will offer samples or coupons, you may to go that route before you go out and buy a bigger bag. Good luck!!

As for the food not having enough meat, I don't know if one gets this impression from the protein content from food or not, but I was told that too high of a percentage of protein in food may cause constipation. So the min of 22%, to me, sounds like a good percentage. One thing I do know, it definately works for us. | |
