| So Long Wellness...Hello Blue Buffalo so.....after dealing with explosive and runny bms (the kind that had me getting up every other hour all night long to take lulu out!) it became clear that something in the food was not agreeing with her. i got some blue buff puppy and figured it would take a few days for her to firm up, assuming of course, this food didn't also affect her negatively. here's the amazing thing! the very first time i replaced wellness with the blue, her poo firmed right up. i even got to sleep through the entire night last night!! oh...and another thing.....she seems actually spunkier or happier somehow! i know that wellness is a great food, but for lulu, it just didn't work out. needless to say, i am THRILLED with the blue buffalo!! wish i knew if she was allergic to something in the wellness or if it was just too rich for her system at the moment.....hmmm.....

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm...it might help to compare the 2 ingredient lists bc that is a fast reaction. Is the protein source completely different? If yes, you may have it right there. I'm just happy you have found a solution bc ongoing diarrhea is so awful..and scary. Been there! Marcel had giardia as a pup, so I know...

| Lady had the same problem with Wellness Whitefish and Sweet Potato. It wasn't allergies because that is the basis of her homecooked recipe now. I've heard other people complain about loose stools on Wellness. |

| ann...i'm going to compare the two more closely and see if anything jumps out at me because yes, the change was immediate! ladymom...i'd actually seen where you mentioned trouble with one of the wellness foods and a little more digging unearthed a lot of folks who said the same....it's very confusing! i guess sometimes it has more to do with the dog than it does the food?! wahawaha....thanks for the coupon tip! i have one on the way.

| kayden has been on wellness since she was a puppy. she's been on the 'simple solutions' for about a month now. but she...just this week...started having diarrhea. only at her normal poo times. nothing extra. but she did throw up a couple times wednesday. she doesn't act like anything is wrong...not acting sick or anything. and she doesn't feel like she has fever or anything. no other symptoms. i'm thinking of going to the store today and getting samples of other foods. any ideas or suggestions? |

| Does Blue Buffalo have a puppy food? I would love to switch Bear from Royal Canine to something better. So far we tried Merrick Puppy Plate, Nature Variety Chicken/Brown Rice medley, and Nature Variety Raw Chicken formula. He didn't even try the first two, and ate about hald of one piece of row chicken. ( He loves cooked chicken I make for us) I know Royal Canine is not the best food I can give to my baby, but that is all he wants to eat. |

| I've had Harley on Blue small breed formula for close to 3 weeks now and we both love it. She doesn't eat as much, about 1/2 cup all day long, because of the higher protein content, but her stool's have hardened up and she's got TONS more energy. It has also improved the shine of her coat. I will definitely be sticking to the Blue Buffalo.

| I feed my 2 Wellness small breed Super 5 mix . No problems with runny stools at all, in fact Suzi looks much healthier now. I know welness has differnet types of dog foods , and a couple of them are lower quality on the super prem. list. I am glad Blue Buffalo is working for your dogs.

But.... this is the first super prem food she's been on, so maybe there is something out there even BETTER for her? But she seems to love it. and the price is good too. Oh, btw, the reason I read this thread was bc the title reminded me of a Chappelle show skit: "So long fried rice, hello fried chicken!"

| I had my Suzi on By Nature which was rated a 4 , so is the Blue Buffalo. The Welness , small breed , is a rating of 5. it is actually higher protein content . This is only the research that I have done on the difference of the 2. But , Wellness does have 2 lower quality brands of dog foods out there that are rated a 2. SO it depends on what was bought. not all is the same.
