| Do you guys walk your yorkies? What type of exercise, if any, do you provide for your yorkie? And, for how long a time period and how many times a day? I used to walk my yorkie after work and have stopped but, I think maybe I should start again or give her some type of exercise. thanks! |

| Buddy loves the outdoors and he's too big to go on a pee pad, IMO. He get's walked 4x daily and we play indoors throwing a ball, his baby etc down a 9ft hall for him to retrieve. He would live outdoors if he could. |

| Walking I take Jack/Bella walking everyday weather permitting, They are funny around the time we usually go Jack will go to the pantry where the leashing are and stair at them. He knows what time it is. They have always loved to walk. We usually walk about 20-minutes or maybe not that much. Sometime there are dogs who are with out leashes and we have to go the other way. We go and get the mail. wished I had a treadmill when weather is bad.. Cheryl |

| I walk my girls 3 to 4 times a day...about 20-30 mins, sometimes more. At least once a day, during one of the walks, I take them to an open field by a lake we have in the neighborhood and let them run around off leash for a few...Then it's back on the leash and back to finishing the walk. We also play with them indoors every day as well. Throwing their toys, running around letting them chase us. They also have eachother to chase around which is good. I know the yorkie breed doesn't require "much" exercise but I think it is still good to make sure they have some form of it every day. I always feel bad when I walk mine & yet I see everyone with all these big dogs who never get out of the backyard...and we're in townhomes so the yard is not that big.

| Jackson gets walked a lot more in warmer weather but he typically goes for a 30 minute-1 hour walk per day, plus dog park (usually 2 hours at a time) 2-3x a week. We don't have a fence where I live so I usually have to walk him on leash around our 3 acres to potty and he goes out 4-6x a day. But I will allow him off leash free time sometimes if I can watch 24/7. He also gets at least 10 minutes of fetch at night before bedtime indoors, plus at least 10 minutes of trick training (which tires him out mentally!) Jackson loves it outdoors and would run around all day if he could. In the summer, we often go for 4 mile walks.

| I play ball with Laci outside at least 3 times a day, we walk everyday weather premiting.. its very hard to walk with all this snow and it is cold but I still make a effort to get outside and throw the ball around, she is strange and will play ball, rain sleet or snow... she doesnt care as long as there is a ball involved... I think she feels better too if she has run around and played. I dont like her just laying around sleeping all day , it makes for a very long night with an over energetic dog...

| After reading all these posts I feel so bad. I used to walk Jeannie atleast once a day and for the last 3 or 4 months I haven't. Sometimes I play with her in the house because 'she starts it' or I chase her around the house....she loves it. I have just been exhausted when I get home. I know that's not an excuse but, it's the only reason. I am going to make a conscious effort to walk her every day. Thanks for all your responses. |

| We walk every day that the weather allows. If it isn't too cold or too hot we have a two-mile walk. On decent weekends we walk more than once, if possible. I've always heard that it helps their organs to work better. She loves her walks more than anything else in the world. We play in the house, too. I work so going more than once during the week is nearly impossible except when the days are long.

| Jeannie loves her walks too. Many times she runs to the door and looks up at the door knob and waits. Poor thing. I need to make more time...maybe I'm the one that needs to take a vitamin so I can have more energy when I get home from work. I definately need to find the time to walk her. |

| Well since I live in MN, it is too cold out right now for my boys to go out for a walk. They go outside to go potty and come back just shaking. I can't blame the little dogs when it's below 20! But from spring through fall, I take them on hour walks around the neighborhood, hikes on wood trails, and 4 mile walks on paths. But their favorite is running behind me when I roller blade. They have both have gone 5 miles (2.5 one way) easily with me! When they see the roller blades come out, I watch them both do a happy dance. I've even seen Madden get so excited that he's tackled Jack. My boys love the outdoors.... wouldn't mind taking them boating and swimming sometime.

| Due to the weather they haven't been walked very much. But when it's not freezing outside I'll walk them everyday, and at least one very long walk (4 miles) once or twice a week. I read somewhere that dogs have some kind of drive to walk, and they'd get more out of walking for a half hour than running in a backyard for 2 hours. |

| Weather depending we walk at least 2x a day. In the warm weather, I come home at lunchtime and walk them a 3rd time. When I was at home all the time, we'd walk 4 or 5 times a day.

| I just wanted to let you all know that I went home yesterday and walked my little girl. Then, later on I played with her in the house. I played with her this morning as well. Tonight I'll walk her. Thank you all for the encouragement. |
