| I put the food down, he doesnt eat it ... I know what Im supposed to do, I do it, it still makes no difference. I have a fussy little Yorkie. At first I had to try several different foods as he had a senstive stomach and had a lot of diarrhoea. At last I found a food that suited him, Orijen. He ate it at first. Now he wont eat it. I have tried putting it down leaving it for 15 minutes, taking it up and putting it in the bin, he doesnt eat it. I tried a gravy topper (Gravy Works) he licked up the gravy and left the kibble. I tried adding some wet food to kibble (canned Chappie, Fish4Dogs salmon mousse or sardines) and what does he do? eat the wet food and leave the kibble. I even tried a week of substituting one meal with raw. The first few days he ate some of the raw, but then went off that too. This weekend he turned his nose up at a fresh oxtail which was really meaty . I know that at 4 and a half months its likely he is cutting his adult teeth so maybe thats an issue with the raw and the kibble, but I get the impression that he is just playing me up. So again, I tried putting the kibble down on its own, leaving it for 15 minutes, then taking it away. Im tired of throwing expensive food away. How many days do I keep this up for??? |

| He probably just does not like the food. Mine won't eat anything that has a fishy smell. How much does he weigh? Changing food often or offering to many different things could keep his tummy upset. Have you tried just a good quality chicken and rice dog food? I feed mine Chicken Soup puppy dry food and I add a little canned Pedigree Healthy Digestion and they love it. Have you tried Natural Balance or Solid Gold? Those are good foods. |

| He is still a baby and probally will only pick , I free fed my puppy, I added some organic low fat low salt chicken broth to just a few pieces of kibble at a time , she ate it. Also she wouldnt eat out of the bowl so I hand fed her a few pieces at a time. I would just stick with one food tho and stop switching it as that will cause the ugly D's. When My puppy was teething she would only eat the soft food also so I kept her dry kibble down all day so she could acess it, but 3 times a day I added warn chicken broth so soften it and make it more appealing!!

| When we first brought Gracie home she wouldn't eat either. I boiled chicken breast and also used Nutrical to get something in her. I then sprinkled the chicken breast over her food and within time transitioned her to eat her food without the chicken breast! |

| Thank you for your suggestions. I dont need to change food again. Its like whenever we start with a food he likes it at first, but then goes off it really quickly. Soaking or putting broth on the food, doesnt make much difference. I have absolutely no idea what to do next. |

| Your choice of kibble is fantastic, I would free feed at this point (leaving kibble down 24/7.) Your pup knows you are trying different things and is waiting for what you will come up with next. I would leave about 1/4 cup kibble down, in a shallow plate, just enough to cover the bottom, only 1 layer of kibble. Don't leave piles of it out and don't add anything to it. Snickers was picky for so long (pre raw diet) and as soon as I just left the dry kibble down, he ate as needed and was never overweight. How old is your pup and how much does he weigh?? Don't stress if he doesn't eat for a day or so, he will. If he doesn't eat anything within 24 hours, you may want to change kibble and not add anything to it. A kibble Snickers is thriving on and eats regularly for the 1st time in his short 1.5 yrs of life is Acana, made from the same company as Orijen. It's less protein but still grainfree and has 3 varieties. He eats Primal raw in the AM and Acana in the PM. He eats his kibble everyday without fail. He loves it. I was truly shocked. I keep 2 varieties on hand just in case his pickyness returns, and I never add anything to it. I hope I'm helpful to you and that your pup starts eating regularly...I know how frustrating it can be!! Smiles!! Snick & Viv

I gave Hedley something new this morning and he loved it: fish4dogs I knew it suited him as he had some of the trial size for training treats, and he also has the fish 4 dogs chews and treats as they are hypo allergenic. Unlike the other posters dog, Hedley loves fish! I might keep 2 foods on the go, the fish one and the orijen, see if that works. I fed him from my hand with the fish4dogs puppy food this morning, its smaller than the orijen puppy kibble and he ate a handfull straight away. I think he honestly gets bored with the same thing. I am going to weigh him again soon. He now doesnt fit my kitchen scales, but the last time he was on them he was about 5lb and that was about at 12 weeks old. He is slim, but I know pups are under all that fluff. It has been snowing heavily here today and he loves the snow. He is lively and happy enough so I dont think theres anything really wrong. | |
