| Pretty sure the thyroid is still in the neck though (for dogs.. can't seem to find a diagram of the organs with it listed at the moment.) Personally, if its a concern I would do the blood work anyway just to be sure. |

| Ya the thyroid is in the neck- I just didn't know that you meant the goiters were where the thryoid was- but going to have it checked out when we get back home in the new year |

Sorry about the misunderstanding... a goiter is an enlarged thyroid (which only potentially is caused by a lack of iodine). Depending on how large it is (takes a long time to grow usually) its felt by hand and then followed up with a ultrasound. Its really not something you'd have to worry about unless your test results came back abnormal and stayed abnormal for quite a while. | |

| yes it is in the neck like humans and they get a musky sweaty neck when they are hypothyroid as well as my girl did |
