| My little girl had a umbilical hernia repaired along with her spay...i'm hear to tell ya, she was the very sameway. Poor baby was partically cut from her little bug to her ribs. Only thing she wanted to do was be held and warmed. We actually had to carry her out to do her business for the 1st 3 days and carry her back. When she finally started walking again, she only hopped and she would yank around trying to get to the stitches. I'm sure they were pulling something terrible. Stitches got so dried out, you could tell they were pulling her skin. At that point I started rubbing in a little vaseline to soften the skin around. Vet said to bring her back in 7-10 days for removal. Believe me, we were there at 7:00 am on the 7th day. LOL. Oh, and she wouldn't drink water either first few days...so we gave her water in a syringe.....what a spoiled little baby she is and I love it too!! Hugs to your sweetie!

| YT Addict | Thanks Perella and all else whos posted since my last. She hasn't been whimpering at all but she has been doing little groaning noises when she moves around. She has been sleeping longer periods than in the beginning, too. Which is good shes getting some rest. We don't have heated blankets but we have a nice fuzzy throw that she curls up in and we put a corner over her to help keep her warm. But she moves off of it and back on so we havent put it in the dryer. We have a plate with some water but she hasn't touched it as well as a tiny little bowl. She won't eat anything, either. She's just too tired right now I guess. I tried giving her some food by hand but she wouldn't take it then, either. She may feel a little better tomorrow and feel up to drinking some water and eating something. She seems to feel a LOT skinnier than when she went in on her sides. Is that normal? It's almost like she's really under weight now..

| Glad to hear she's quieted down some and is a little more comfortable. Did you try chopped up boiled chicken or maybe turkey if you have that? It's important to get them to eat to keep their energy up and help them not get sick from the pain meds. I wouldn't worry too much if you can't get her to eat tonight, but she should definitely be hungry tomorrow...I'm sure she'll probably eat some chicken and white rice for you in the morning if you offer it to her. I know sometimes when I give Stella ice water it encourages her to drink more, and she likes to play with/lick the ice. Did she have any teeth extracted during her surgery? Ice might help make her mouth feel better so she can eat if she did. I hate when they don't eat too, they're so little that it's definitely noticeable when they don't, like you said! |

| YT Addict | Thanks Hillies and Sweet Apple. I'm so glad I have people to talk to about these things, otherwise the vet would be answering 50 different phone calls from me, LOL. I mean some of this is basic stuff, they should have whole guideline sheets with this kind of information on it, like them looking skinny and possibly not eating (they only say don't make them eat until late at night or the next morning, not that they probably won't accept it the first night). We tried ice chips and she didn't want that, either. She didn't have any teeth extractions, I don't think she was quite that bad it was more like she got there just in time to get deep cleaned to prevent some kinda infections where she'd need extracting. I'm so glad they were willing to work with us, I just knew she needed help with her teeth. I think God or someone must really be on her side. She soooo deserves it. Maybe her breath will smell better now, though =x I'm gonna try my best to brush her teeth. I had tried before and she hated it but we got the front. Do you guys use any special treats (like greenies though greenies are too expensive for me) to help with clean teeth? Someone suggested baby carrots, I'm going to try those but would like some more suggestions? The skinny thing still bugs me, though. She felt skinny to begin with but she eats every day so I'm not sure why. I forgot to ask them how much she weighed.

| YT Addict | Just a little update on today. Sorry it's so late, had work from 8 til 3. Anyway so my mom stayed home with her today, well she works from home so she didn't stay at home specifically as shes always home :P But yeah, she made some boiled chicken and rice and she ate 2 portions today not big ones. She's gone to potty for #1 and #2 this morning and then again later on. Don't know if shes drank anything, but what should we do if shes not drinking? I don't know if I have a syringe on hand right at the moment. She was happy and wagging her tail when I came home from work and she seems more alert, but still not her same old self just yet. Saddening though cuz a lot of people say the 2nd day their babies were acting almost normal. I got the onesie on her, I just don't know how to tell when she has to go to the bathroom as we are just using paper out on the porch because it's raining bad and don't want to risk getting her stitches wet.. But also just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone that has given input and comfort/support. I really appreciate it!!
