| I believe the breeder should never have let go of a 1 lb puppy. that is way too small my breeder would not let me have zoey till she was at least 13 weeks or no less than 3 lbs. I wish you all the success and happiness with your new pup.

| Welcome to YT! I'm so sorry to hear about your loss of Gizmo. Yes, liver shunt is a hereditary disease and your new puppy could be at risk. It is passed genetically through the lines so I would take your new baby to the vet and have a bile test ran to see what's going on just to be safe. I don't mean to be negative or worry you more but I would definately have him checked out. And it bothers me firstly that your breeder "wasn't too happy" to give you another pup and that they he basically didn't take Gizmos death to be his responsibility. I really hope your new baby is healthy and happy!

| New Name... What about " Lucky" since you have been lucky with this one? A good strong positive name, IMHO |

| Welcome to YT, am so sorry about Gizmo, at least he had one last rally before he passed away. Am happy you have a new baby and hope Rocco will be fine. As far as the liver shunt, I have talked to my vet and many breeders. One liver shunt in a line is considered a fluke but if 2 appear, breeding should stop from that line!!!!!!!!! I'm sure your vet will advise you on precautionary tests to rule this out in Rocco and I would be sure to follow his advice. Am also sorry your breeder was reluctant to offer you another puppy, I would also think that they would have been more concerned about their bloodlines unless this truely is the first show of a liver shunt. Any reputable breeder helps in anyway possible during this difficult time. good luck with your and again, welcome |
