| ulcer on his eye A couple of days ago Harley’s eye was watery but I thought it was allergies (he really didn’t have any other symptoms). Yesterday he woke up and he was squinting his left eye so I took him to the vet, they checked him out, did the ultra violet light and determined he must be having an allergic reaction to something and gave me drops for his eye. Today he woke up and his eye was completely closed and had white gunk in it. I called and they saw him again and did the ultra violet light again and he had this huge ulcer on his eye. The doctor said it was serious and he needs to see an eye specialist. They gave him some meds for his pain and different eye drops. I feel so bad for him. He hasn’t been himself since yesterday. I am so worried for him and just want him to be ok. I looked on-line and it can be as simple as the drops or it could require surgery. Please keep Harley in your prayers!

| You need to get him to an opthamalogist asap! Ulcers can be treated, but they do need to be cared for immediately. My vet has a special concoction that someone from A&M gave her the recipe for. I would be happy to pm it to you if you want to share it with your vet. It is special drops that must be used hourly the first 24 hours ...then every 2 hours...then 3 over several days. These drops have saved a couple of my yorkies' eyesight!! As for the surgery....there is a procedure that is done called a corneal grid keratotomy where they scrape the eye...and there is also a procedure where they stitch the third eyelid over the eye. Nothing major. And, those things work if meds do not.

| Good luck to little Harley!! Please post a follow up...I will be thinking about him and you. I know how stressful these things are. I hate seeing pups in pain or ill.

| My baby had two, one on each eye. She was given drops for them and they did help. The vet wanted to preform surgery on her eyes but when she was staying with him he didn't get to it in time and he never mentioned surgery again. She has passed away now but after the eye drops she was pretty much back to normal and didn't squint or have issues with her eyes again. |

| My Maddie has also fought this battle a few times because she suffers from a severe case of KCS in her eye. Good Luck! I pray your baby finds relief and the ulcer is not from another underlying condition. |

| I'm Going Thru The Same Thing Right Now My Yorkie woke up one morning and that morning gook made his eye stick together. It didn't look like it was getting any better at the end of the day since he was squinting, and I took him to the Vet. My Yorkie has an ulcer too and he's on precription eye drops. He's also wearing that nice E-Collar. We're in the 2nd week of all of this and it does look like it is getting better. Just letting you know your not the only one experiencing this at the moment. |
