| Acana ingredients on bag different than advertised on website!!!!! I was just reading through the posts about Acana pet food since I am switching by Ella to it from TOTW. Someone had posted a link to the website and the ingredients are not in the same order on the bag as they are on the website, nor are they all presented either!!! WTF Making me second guess this company...? |

| You can email them and ask what ingredient list is current. When this happens, it is usually do to an ingredient change mid-production and the bags have not yet been changed.

| Oh no. That's not good. However, I still think you will be very happy is Acana! We LOVE IT! Within a few weeks of switching to it from Wellness, I couldn't believe how much more shiny my girls coats were. Not to mention that my picky eater will eat their "provincial" I hopw your puppy likes it! |

| I agree. There may be a change in the ingredients from when the samples were sent to your store and now. WHICH type of Acana is it? Grasslands, Priairie or the Pacifica? It is a great food." I" would not worry about it. I read here there was post about this a while back. If I find the link I will post it.

| There is a discussion on the Lab Boards about the change. It seems the changes are IMPROVEMENTS to me. More Salmon in the Pacifica. Here is the chat. See page 2 where they are comparing an old bag to the new bag. http://www.lab-retriever.net/board/a...7341900p2.html Also, on the Acana web site it says in a Red box new formulas are coming out. http://www.championpetfoods.com/acana/products.php So they are telling people.

| We recently switched Snickers over to Acana as well and he LOVES it and is still loving it for a good week now!!! I can't believe how much he eats again!! He LOVES his Primal Raw in the morning and every night he goes to town on his Acana. I am not worried about the change in ingredients, like the others say, looks like a positive change. Champion foods has been awarded Dog Food of The Year within the last few years with their Orijen, so I'm not worried. Snick's in love with Praire Harvest!!!!! Smiles- Snick & Viv

| So I just talked to my breeder about the changes to Acana and she said that she wasn't a fan of the new ingredients and changed to Fromm Family Foods - Four-Star Grain-Free Surf & Turf for dogs I just bought two new bags of Acana (one of my girls is on grain free and the other is on a low fat Acana) so they will have to finish those before we check out this new kind! |

| Old Pacifica: Salmon meal, russet potato, peas, fresh boneless salmon (source of DHA), fresh boneless herring, herring meal, pumpkin, fresh boneless flounder, salmon oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols and rosemary), ground lobster shell (natural source of glucosamine), sun-cured alfalfa leaf, red delicious apples, carrots, turnip greens, organic kelp, organic bladderwrack, organic dulse, juniper berries, cranberries, Saskatoon berries, black currants, angelica root, chicory root, red clover, red raspberry leaf, dandelion root, peppermint leaf, marigold flowers, chamomile flowers, rosemary, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Enterococcus faecium. Vitamins (vit. A, vit. D3, vit. E, niacin, riboflavin, lysine, thiamine mononitrate, vit. B12, pyridoxine, folic acid, biotin). Minerals (iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, manganese proteinate, cobalt proteinate, copper proteinate). New Boneless salmon (naqtural source of EPA, DHA), salmon meal, herring meal, russet potato, peas, whitefish meal, sweet potatoes, salmon oil (naturally preserved with Vitamin E0, sun-cured alfalfa, boneless herring, boneless flounder, natural fish flavors, pumpkin, turnip greens, spinach, tomatoes, carrots, apples, organic kelp, cranberries, blueberries, juniper berries, black currants, chicory root, licorice root, angelica root, fenugreek, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, peppermint leaf, chamomile flowers, lavender flowers, summer savory, rosemary, vitamin A, vitamin D3, vitamin E, niacin, zinc proteinate, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, vitamin B5, iron proteinate, vitamin B6, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12, selenium, dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentaiton product. I don't see any changes to worry about. More meat...less potato. And then there are a couple of little changes in herbs/flowers. Sorry to see the ground lobster shell go because it says it is a natural source of glucosamine. I do not plan on taking it out of my rotation. Max loves Acana Provincial Prairie and Grasslands.

| I like to switch toward the end of the bag so he does not bored and gets different protein sources. Next time I think I may try another of the Nature's Variety Prairie flavor like beef or salmon. I like the size of the kibble in NV Prairie. But I know Max does well on Acana (nice poops and he loves the flavors). NV talks about "rotation" here: FAQ's - Proper Nutrition | Nature's Variety

YT 2000 Club Member | and how high is the protein count in acana? (i guess I should just look it up, lol) My dogs dont really tolerate anything over the 35 percent range. Right now we are using Merricks and even though they love it and for the most part doing well on it, Im concerned with the red staining and eye tearing that my dogs have had in the last 2 weeks and Im assuming that its the food. .. Does anyone know if they offer samples? I know there is no dealers in my area and I will have to order it online. Thanks

| Acana (& Orijen) kibble are both flat disk shape kibbles. I do cut Snickers in half to make 2 smaller half circles. He eats them fine when I cut them, I left him out the full sized disks today so I'll see if he ate any when I get home or if he will tonight. Compared to NV, Acana is bigger, it's about the size of a penny or a dime more or less. Acana has grainfree as well as grained kibbles. We chose the grainfree as Snick has been on grainfree most if his life and we prefer it. Here is their website: Champion Petfoods | ACANA | Our Products I'm using Praire Harvest right now and it's 35% protein and 17% fat. I like these numbers, Snick is small so as long as he maintains his 3.5lb figure I'm happy. He did well on Evo (42% protein) but just grew tired of it. I also have Acana Grasslands which is Lamb based for back up. Praire is chicken based. Rotation diets are great for us. We serve raw in the morning and then kibble in the evening. We are using Primal raw currently but also used NV raw in the past and Snick thrives on it. We are VERY happy with Acana right now. They sell sample bags for about $2.50. That is what I am currenty using right now. -Snick & Viv

I would feed the chicken based, my dogs really arent fond of much else. DO they sell the sample bags on their website? When I looked I didnt see anything. I dont have a local retailer in my area. NYC has a ton of places that sells it, but nothing in upstate close to me. Thanks for your help.

| Max is 6-7 lbs and eats the Acana fine. I would say the pieces are about the size of 2 NV but as flat as Acana. I hope the pic explains it-LOL The sample bags are .88 lb. Not like the little sample bags stores give free.
