| Feeding a litter with raw food? Ok so I have start feeding my dog raw meat and I would like to do the same for the puppies. But I am wondering what the families that are going to adopted the puppies will think about that? I am planning on printing a flyer that will help them understand the benefit of going raw but at the end of it, they are going to make their own decision of how they want to feed their dog. So should I feed the puppies raw like my adult but also give them kibbles (free grain) to make whichever feeding transition easier for the pup once he move out? Or should I insisted on feeding raw and give a bag of NV and a pack of chicken wigs and some green tripes instead of the bag of RC kibbles in the Puppy starter pack. I would appreciated your opinion as a breeder and as a puppy buyer. BTW, My dogs love it!! It was amazing to see them going crazy on the turkey wigs I gave them yesterday! They haven't touch their kibbles for 3 days now so I think I am going to trow that crap right in the garbage. |

| I have two pups - 10 months and 10 weeks. The older one came with Pro Plan and the younger came with Eukanuba. I don't feed either of those brands so I switched them both as soon as we got home. It's not that I didn't trust the breeders or listen to what advise they gave - I just had my own opinions about what foods I want to feed them. I tried raw a little while ago but didn't really have a good experience with it. So, you should do what you think is best for your little guys but I'd bet the new owners will switch the pups to what ever they want. If you do go only raw, it might be a little harder for the new owners to introduce kibble. And with yorkies being so tiny when pups, not eating could be dangerous. Good luck! |

That is what I am worry about... changing from raw to kibbles might be really hard on the puppy that already have to deal with the stress of moving to a new home... Feeding them grain free kibbles and some raw should be ok though... I think.

I would go ahead and do some grain free kibble and raw once a day. I think it's a great idea for you to give the new owners info on raw. You never know, some may accept the info and feed raw after they learn about it. I would get some good links on the paper too so they can do their own research. Even go as far as give them store names that may sell it in their area if you know. Some may hesitate but thats usually the people who don't know anything about it. Lola's been on it for over a month now and she's doing great, I can't think of switching back!

| I weaned my last litter to raw! I did supplement with kibble though once they were bigger. I would leave some kibble out but they all preferred the raw food and did wonderfully with it. |

I am not trying to force anyone. I'ts just that I want to give what I think is the best to my puppy as I do for my adult.

My puppies love the chicken drumstick, chicken heart and Turkey wigs I have gave them.I gave them NV yesterday but I think I am going to focus mainly on organic free meat from farmer market. Both my adult and puppies are clearly rejecting the kibbles in their bowl. They are barely touching it, waiting for the real thing to come now. Ok so do you tell the puppy's new family to feed him the same kibbles as you use as a supplement for the puppy. And are those kibbles free grain?

And very interesting. I will definitively do some research about raw feeding and how it can influence the grow rate of the puppy.

| I just wanted to clarify.... it doesn't mean that your dogs will be smaller. They will still attain the same size that they are genetically engineered to reach, it will just take longer to reach that than if fed kibble. And I might add, the slow growth is optimum as fast growth can hurt the joints etc. Although I think it has less of an impact on our small dogs than the larger breeds..... |

| Could you give them the info before they pick up their pup? That way they could research and get used to the idea before they even get their baby. I feed raw (NV) and Bonnie loves it. It wasn't hard for me to make that choice after I read the facts. |
