| Light colored poop Hi everyone, I have been having some problems with getting Stella to eat her food. I recently (about 8 days ago) put her on Nutro Nature's Choice and finally she is eating again and seems to enjoy it! BUT now I noticed her stools are very light in color (like light tan). Usually they are still firm but occasionally they can be mushy. She is totally off her pooping schedule and I am a little concerned. I thought maybe it was b/c I did not gradually transition her food since when I tried that she wouldnt eat the mix of old food/new food either. So we went right to her eating her new food. I think that may be the reason she is off schedule but why might her poop be so light in color?! Any ideas?? I have searched the web but have not come up with anything satisfactory. Thanks!! |

| Oh, I thought it might be worth it to mention that this new food is way lighter in color than all her other foods that she has eaten or tried. they are light tan when all her other foods were dark brown. I do not know if that makes a difference. Sorry, I could not figure out how to edit my original post! |

| Food color will make a difference in the stool color but it should not be soft and mushy. Maybe the food does not agree with your dog's system. It took forever for me to find a food that did not give eye goobers and soft stool. Now EVERYTHING is prefect. I am feeding him Nature's Variety Prairie Lamb & Oatmeal. Great size kibble and he LOVES it! Makes me very HAPPY! I personally have not fed Nutro but I have not heard good things about it here on the boards.

| I fed my dogs Nutro for years with no issues and their poop was light in color, but it was firm. They are now on Natures Balance and their poop is dark brown. Quite a difference. |

| wow, that bad huh? I was just happy she was eating food. haha. I dread having to change her food again. What is so bad about it? I actually looked at the sticky before trying it and Nutro did not get an awful grade (between As and Bs I think). She was on Science Diet and I was told to get her off of that right away and that was when she started to have all kinds of issues with her food and not eating. I tried some of the best foods (I really wanted her to like Blue Buffalo as I heard good things about it) but she just would not eat them. It's a shame. I figured when I have to transition her to adult food I will try the better foods again! I did hear there was a Nutro recall at one time but I found out that after she started eating it. Also, Sherile, Stella was eating a darker food before this and her poop was dark brown then. I think the contrast of it then and now was worrying me. Most of the time it is firm but occasionally she has one that is soft. Thanks again everyone! |

It just seems that since the big recall a few years back Nutro has had several recalls since, be it dry, wet, dog, cat......it always seems to be something. I had Milo on it for about a week before the big recall. He eats Natural Balance now and loves it we use the LID Lamb, he also liked the Merrick but it was hard for me to find. Best of luck finding a food it's tricky when they are picky eaters. | |

| There's a TON of bad stuff about Nutro. I believe they just had yet another recall in the end of September again. I would switch off of it, honestly. If she's a picky eater, try Nature's Variety Instinct or Praire. Naturesvariety.com Jackson is sooo picky and he finally loves his food, I feed him NV Instinct. He likes turkey & duck flavor the best.

| Ok, I may try to switch it when this bag gets lower. At least I know she will eat this food if the others do not work. If everyone honestly feels as if Nutro is dangerous or potentially hazardous I do not want to risk my puppy's health. I am really sorry to hear about all the issues they are having. I now have a good list of foods to try so maybe I can get some samples before buying all of them. Thanks again! Stella's mom |
