| Switching my puppy from canned to dry.. help! I bought my Yorkie Saturday and the breeder had him on Pedigree Puppy (lamb&rice) and she told me to keep him on that until he gets use to his new environment, which he has. He is doing great. By the way, he is 9 weeks today. I bought some Iams small breed puppy Proactive Health dry food and he loves it. I have been trying to mix it in with his canned food to get his use to it but he just doesn't seem to like it mixed. He loves the Iams alone by it self as treats though. Should I just completely switch over and not worry about mixing? Last edited by Amanda19; 10-14-2009 at 06:36 PM. |

| On your new baby! Honestly I would not just let him switch over straight to the other.....there tummies cant take much change at a time. Nothing worse than seeing them act sick and have tummy problems. You should look at the other forum "yorkie health and diet' there is some wonderful info on very good quality foods. I would take the dry you are wanting him to start on and wet it....then once it is soft mix it in with the canned food...that way it is similar texture but his tummy is getting used to the new stuff...then if he likes the hard crunch of the kibble give him one or 2 of those as a treat. I would just keep adding in a little of the wet/softned kibble every day over the next week before you just give it to him straight.
