| Normal weight gain? I can't seem to find an answer for this so I'll just ask! What is the normal weight gain per week for a Yorkie that is 5 to 6 months old? 1 oz? 2 oz? 3? On her 5 mo. birthday (9/25) she weighed 4.5 lbs and tonight she weighs 4.9 lbs. Is this an ok gain? We use our home scale to weigh her so it's not entirely accurate, but I think it's close enough. I just want to make sure Sophie is gaining properly and not too much or too little. She's on the Orijen Six Fish Formula All Stages food which I know is high protein, so I just want to make sure she's not eating too much or too little. She gets usually 1/2 cup per day (1/4 c in morn. 1/4 c. at night) plus treats (cheerios). Should I increase or lower her kibble amount? From the puppy growth chart (sometimes accurate and sometimes not, I know) she should be on the way to probably 6 to 6.5 lbs, I think. Am I looking at this right? |

Yorkie Talker | Normal Weight gain... Quote:
Hello, I am the mother of a male Yorkie who just turned 11 months. I took hiim to the vet on Saturday and he is super healthy, but he weighed in at 12.5 lbs. He is not overweight, he's just large. I call him my Baby Huey of Yorkies. ) I used to have a girl who weighed 3.2 lbs. She passed away last December. She was very small and very fragile. We were always at the Vet and she died before she turned 7 years old. So, I'm glad that Skooter is the picture of good health, I just didn't know Yorkies could get to be that large. Is this normal? Thanks!
