| ![]() I did not see Orijen and ACANA on the list... On the front of the bag in caps it says: "Acana's Animal ingredients are Ethoxyquin - free and made exclusively from animals of Canadian origin that are passed as fit for human consumption". Same thing on Orijen's bag. It SAYS they do not specifically use Ethoxyquin. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() NEW INFO...... In light of this information on ethoxyqion , many now don't know if their pet food company is being truthful if this ingredient is used by their fish meal supplier. I received a new e-mail with instructions to ask the pet food company for the Certificate of Analysis they receive from their fish meal supplier. It would list the preservative that was used....... .....It’s called a Certificate of Analysis; a document provided to pet food manufacturers with every shipment of ingredients. Pet food manufacturers require suppliers to provide them with a certificate of analysis for every pet food ingredient. Information provided with each analysis is different depending on the particular ingredient. However as with the issue of ethoxyquin preserved fish meals, the analysis will report if the fish meal is preserved naturally or with risky ethoxyquin. If you have your doubts, call or email your pet food manufacturer and ask they provide you with a certificate of analysis for the fish meal ingredient (or any other ingredient). If your pet food manufacturer refuses, perhaps on the basis the information would be proprietary, get a new pet food. Proof of pet food ingredient quality should NEVER be proprietary information. The bad news...with every batch of pet food and in turn with every batch of incoming ingredients, the analysis statement could change. Quality of ingredients SHOULD remain consistent, however one certificate of analysis will not guarantee that.

| ![]() Another easy fix would be to just avoid the varieties that use fish meal. There are many other good protein sources.

![]() But I see what you mean if you just avoid all foods containing any fish meal then it wouldn't be an issue.....

NO FISH MEAL...no matter what company it may be. If they only have to list what "they" put in it...who knows what was put into it before it arrived to them. ![]()

| ![]() The scary thing is, this applies to any ingredient in any food - not just ones that have fish meal.

| ![]() Thanks so much for this post! We have a new store in our area that carries a variety of different foods; before Chicken Soup was the best I could find without driving 2 hrs. I decided to try a different brand because my vet seemed to think Chicken Soup had too much fat! (is 14% really too much?) Anyway, I got Blue (even though it has 14% fat also) just because I've heard so many good things about it. I wondered why it was so much higher that the CS, now I know! I will definitely be switching my babies to Blue. Nothing but the best for these little monkeys, me and DH can eat hamburger! ![]()

| ![]() Hi Everyone, I'm new to YorkieTalk and sorry to interrupt your conversation. I work for Eukanuba and noticed that you did not hear back from us regarding the use of Ethoxyquin in our products. I'm so sorry about the delay! We do not use this as a preservative in any of our Eukanuba formulas. We preserve the product with a natural source of Vitamin E. Also, we hold the same standards for our suppliers. I hope this has been helpful. Looking forward to meeting more of you and learning about your pets!! If I can help, just let me know. Emily ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Thank you for posting this. Dogfoodanalysis said they have NO ethquinox in it so I was considering feeding it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I even emailed them Friday to ensure they don't have any in their foods, and am now eager to see what they say and how they skirt the issue. ![]() |

| ![]() I am switching from Innova to Evanger's Pheasant and Brown Rice and wanted to let every one know this brand does NOT contain ethoxyquin. They have a statement on their website in the FAQ section. On dogfoodanalysis.com it says they cannot find this statement but it is there - this brand is safe! |

| ![]() Choline Chloride is a kind of vitamin B. Choline Chloride can promote liver and kidney fat metabolism; Choline Chloride or acetylcholine synthesis based body, thus affecting the transmission of nerve signals. Choline is also required for in vivo synthesis of motioning source of methyl. In many natural foods contain Choline Chloride, but not enough to meet the modern concentration on the animal feed industry, the need for rapid growth. Therefore, the feed synthesis of Choline Chloride should be added to meet their needs. Lack of Choline Chloride can lead to fatty liver, slow growth, reduced egg production rate, mortality increased and so on. |
