I believe the reason to ask for the certificate is because some manufacturers will skirt the issue and won't be truthful, so if their asked they can say, "No WE don't use ethoxyquin."...Even though the supplier of the fish meal did So the certificate will let you know if they are being truthful....This is for people who are using a brand on the "safe" list and are still unsure....

But I see what you mean if you just avoid all foods containing any fish meal then it wouldn't be an issue.....
