| Is Taste of the Wild ok for puppies? I have a 5 yr old bichon that has had the worst allergies and tried everything we went grain free a little less than 1 1/2 years ago. At the time Cooper (my yorkie) was around 9 mos old and also was switched to the grain free and it has worked WONDERS for us allergy wise. I can not say enough about the difference it made with us. We have used Natures variety, natures balance and Taste of the Wild which is there all time favorite....they LOVE the Bison flavor the best.......my question is we are getting a new yorkie and I am wondering even though Taste of Wild says all stage formula do you think I am ok to feed a new baby that since it is not a "puppy formula".....I really hate to have to try another food just for her if not necessary, since I am sure it will be a fight to keep the others away from it....but also dont want to do any harm if I need a puppy food for the first 6 months. By the way my VET is no help, she still recommends Science Diet and thinks the grain free is mostly hype.

| I am feeding this to my 2 year old, Maddie and started our new puppy on it when we rescued her at about 16 weeks. She has done fine on it except having some soft poopy. I did find this which may help answer your question: Picking the Right Food for Your Puppy A diet labeled for "all life stages" will also provide sufficient nutrients, but because it is closer to a maintenance level, your puppy will have to eat more "All Stages" than puppy formula. From three weeks of age up to 20 weeks, your puppy's growth rate is astronomical, and his food intake must keep up. During this period, medium-sized dogs, such as pointers and setters, require approximately 3 1/2 lbs. of dry food to put on one pound of body weight. Large breeds require slightly less, smaller breeds a little more. |
