| Orijen 6 Fish or Orijen Puppy? So I'm transitioning Sophie to Orijen and I bought a sample pack of the 6 fish which is an all life stages formula and she seems to like it (it just smells atrocious with its fishy smell!!!!), but I'm wondering if I should be feeding the Orijen Puppy instead for now and then go to either the 6 fish or adult formulas once she is old enough. Any of you Orijen fans (and everyone else) have any input? |

| Spike eats the Orijen whitefish and tuna, and he's doing well on it. It does smell fishy, but I find that it only really smells when you open up the bag - the smell does fade after it's been in the dish. The cat likes it, though! When Spike moved from puppy to adult food, I just waited until he had about a week's worth of puppy food left, and mixed the new food in with it until it ran out. I've heard that switching them suddenly can upset their stomachs a bit, so it's better to a bit of a mix in order to transition them. |

| I'm not that knowledgeable, but I do have Addie on Orijen. She loves it, and yeah, I totally agree. I hate smelling the fish from the 6 Fish every time I have to fill her bowl. But she likes it, so I deal. If it were me, I would feed the puppy formula of Orijen and then switch when she was one. I've heard the term "puppy formula" is a gimmick to charge more, but I'm not sure. Personally, I'm one of those people who would just want to play it extra safe and follow the rules by feeding my puppy the puppy formula until she's a year old. Sorry I'm not more help! Hopefully more people chime in to help!

| Thanks for the replies. I'll send hubby to get the puppy formula tomorrow. I've still got enough in the sample pack to transition her from the six fish to the puppy. I hate to switch her again, but like you said, better safe than sorry! Thanks again! |

| Well, after reading around the internet and other YT threads, I think I may stick with the 6 fish formula. She'll be 5 months old on the 25th. She's doing well with the transition to the 6 fish since I've been using the sample pack. She's still itching some b/c I've still been transitioning from Royal Canin, but her coat and her poop has been much better. Also, I've noticed her tear stains aren't as bad either. She seems to like the 6 fish so I'll update again once she's been on it longer! Thanks again!! |

| I'm so glad I found out about Orijen's food, and I'm happy your baby seems to be doing well on it. Addie seems to be happy with it. Although, the real test for us will be when she finishes two bags. She was doing fine with Evo for the longest time and then started having bathroom problems halfway through her second bag. Addie's only about halfway through her first bag of Orijen, but no complaints so far!

| Hi. Has the Orijen helped with the tear stains? I originally wanted to put my baby on this good but couldn't find a store that carried it. I found a store recently that has it, but I had already bought the Evo. My baby has a major tear problem that I think might be due to allergies. The vet gave me 2 different eye drops, but it's so hard to put them in. So if it's food problem and Orijen helps, I'm switching her in December. Thanks for your help.

But I will say that I just cleaned her little face yesterday, and I just looked and Addie has not developed any new stains on her face.
