| ![]() Expiration dates.... My vet told me that actual frontline products do not have expiration dates. And you can't be sure with buying stuff from Ebay. How long was it sitting in shipping? Extreme heat can deactivate it. We used to buy it from Australia for really cheap, I mean cheap. That and Heartguard plus. My vet is very holistic and rec some natural remedies and stuff for fleas, but cautioned that if I buy Heartguard and Frontline from somewhere other than a vet, it is not backed by the company. Ie if my dogs get heartworm even on Heartguard, but I didn't buy it at the vet, the company does not pay for the treatments. Same goes for frontline. If they happen to get a chemical burn from the meds, Merial won't pay for treatment unless I purchased it from the vet. Yes it might be more expensive, and yes I loved getting it for cheaper, but now I just don't want to risk it. Especially with Lily being so small, I just don't want to risk it. |

| ![]() I agree that purchasing from any vendor other than a vet, even 1800petmeds probably voids any guarantee from the manufacturer. That being said. You can also save money doing the same dosage savings by buying the large doses from the vet. But...I'd be willing to bet that by splitting the doses, even though purchased from the vet probably still voids the guarantee. The manufacturer would probably claim that dose splitting is not using it as intended or something to that effect.

There really is nothing dreadful that I can see happening from Advantage or Frontline. I simply would not buy it because if it was not effective, I don't feel like dealing with fleas. Now...if it is a problem with a heartworm product...THAT could be dreadful if a pup got heartworms.

NTM, you could have a chemical reaction in the product itself depending on those conditions and it is possible for the flea medicines to cause chemical burn. | |

| ![]() So the Frontline I bought from the vet for just Zoe: do I put on the full dose of Frontline, do I open the package and use 1/2 and throw the rest out, or do I open it and put it in a vile and use a syringe to doll it out? ![]() Reading the pros and cons of buying from vendors other than a vet has been interesting. But still an overall confusing/frustrating topic for me since it seems like no answer is a good answer!

With fleas being such a big deal, especially living in an all carpet house that's around the woods in Florida. I don't want my mistake to mess anything up for Zoe!

I suggest that you call your vet. As for storage, I have never refrigerated it. I keep it in a plastic bottle that is then stored in a dark blue pill bottle.

That is for people who have a few pups....they can buy for the larger pups and put it in a vial and dose it out. Saves a lot of money!

YT Addict | ![]() Would you mind listing the seller you buy from? I would like to check into this myself. It does get rather expensive. |
