Question about Frontline On ebay I saw that you can get Fronline by the bottle. You get a bottle and a syringe with the amount you give and you just give the amount you need by size . I emailed the seller and they told me that Fronline is the same for dogs and cats it's only the amount you give that is different. Well I have a total of 5 animals and the savings would be great. But before I do this has anyone else heard that this is true? |
That is the way I give Frontline to Daisy. I only give it to her a couple times during the spring/summer. It works great for us. I only give her the dosage for a cat instead of the one for small dogs (0-22lbs) because she is about the size of a cat. It is a lot less expensive especially if you have multiple dogs. |
That's a great idea as I have 3 and it gets a bit expensive. Thanks for the tip. |
You can do the same with the liquid. It is 1cc per 10#'s. I buy the Frontline for large dogs & syringe it per all my yorkies weight. |
I use advantage the same way. Saves a lot of money when you have more than one pup! My vet prints out a label for the bottle with the dosages for various weights. |
This is very interesting! I have 5 doses of Frontline for small dogs. Does this mean that if I were to buy an airtight small vial and a syringe I could do this myself? |
Yes. The thing is the package for small dogs is almost as much as the one for large dogs. So why not buy the large size and do it yourself. Saves a lot of $. |

there are certain doses for dogs by weight, and they sell frontline for cats seperatley, so i'd be careful about that...... |
It just hit me.....do NOT buy it on Ebay. What you do if you have a few pups and want to save money is to buy the package of it for large dogs. That package costs almost the same as the one for smaller dogs and each vial will dose more than one small dog! THEN you or your vet can put them in a bottle. You can dose it out by weight...there is a chart for that! I would never buy anything like that on Ebay! Your vet should know what the dosages are for different weights. |
I buy mine from a seller on E-bay and no fleas this year for us.I actually use less than required on mine and it is still working. No problems for us ordering it from E bay. |
Well I'm going to do this, should save a lot of money. Does anyone use less then the amount it's called for. (only a little bit less) so they don't get sick. And if you do does it still work well? Ladyjane why not ebay? Is the fronline different on ebay then from a vet and how about like pet meds and other internet pet stores. |

My vet is no more expensive than those other online places anyway. She keeps her prices low so that people don't shop and get things that might be harmful to their pets. I sometimes do use less, but honestly I have never had a pup get sick from flea preventatives. The only issue I have ever had is an occasional pup who has some skin reddening from it. I have the doses if you need them, but I still recommend that you check that out with your vet. |
advantage I do the same thing with advantage. I don't purchase the actual meds on ebay. But I use a syringe for measuring. You can't use advantix on cats, but you can use advantage for dogs on cats. So, I buy the largest dose of advantage from 1800petmeds in bulk. I pretty much trust them because they work with my vet. They won't sell you heartguard if when they check with your vet your dog has not been heartworm tested, etc... Anyway, I get several large dog size dose advantage, one goes on Bear and the rest goes one at a time in a glass vial to be dosed out to the other animals. Saves a huge amount of money. |
i had my vet test the meds that I bought on ebay and now I deal directly with that person[ and don't order by bidding] we actually swap products[ mine are NOT dog related LOL]....but my vet did say be careful as I called him when I saw it....expiration dates are a HUGE ISSUE!!!! Since my vet is an a small rural community most of the people who have dogs around here don't vet them[ sad huh] but pay him tons to take care of their cows for meat each year. Because he can't buy in a large quantity......since most farm dogs around here aren't vetted-- I would have to pay a huge amount for it. He does however give me a good deal on capstar if i ever need it for my cats.....this year our whole town/region has been terrible with fleas....so he's had to keep it on hand for those of us who needed it....and unfortunately the economy doesn't help a small town vet like him either. Been using him for years for all my rescues[ probably lost money when I stopped doing that LOL] |
