| Don't be too hard on your breeder as all puppies get / have worms and some seem to get rid of them easier than others. I have had some that it took several treatments to clear them and yet others in the same litter had none. They all get them from their mamas. I know its hard to lay out a bunch right after buying that adorable baby but maybe that will be the end of it and he can get on with being your joy. | I just really upsets me. Since we have only had Dolce a week. He is so adorable. But seeing that last long worm just grosses me out. I know he will be ok. The Dr. said to make sure and give him advantage each month so the fleas don't come back. I emailed the breeder and she is baffled at the worms. Since the other pups didn't have them. What about the ear infection? I hope that is not something that will be a chronic problem. |

| I found this picture on the internet. I wanted to make sure it was a tapeworms. It is so gross this is what it looked like. I hope that is got rid of the problem completely. If anyone has tapeworms information to give me. That would be great. I want our baby to be able to sleep in our bed again. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I would think since you've been to your vet twice that you are on the road to recovery with this problem - poor baby - I hope he feels better and they're gone soon - that can't be fun and it can be dangerous - just don't overdo the worm treatment - it sounds like you have it covered ....and I bet you see a huge improvement since the 2nd visit. Its so hard when we get a new puppy and we sure hate to see them sick but worms are treatable. Good LUCK !! |

| My Chewy once had tapeworms from eating a squirell.....ugh......but the vet gave her a shot and that took care of it. Your puppy should be fine by now. Just ask the vet when it's safe to sleep with her again. As I understand it, the tapeworm is immediately killed inside of them. I never did see anything in her stool after the shot. |

| Thank you so much for that link... My Mitzee has had tapeworms since I got her and she has had 2 doses of medicine from the breeder. When I took her to the vet for her shots I had them go ahead and take a test to see if she had anymore worms and it came back negative. Now just a week later I am seeing those darn worms again. I use Frontline so I don't know why she is getting them. I guess I take her to the vet again this week and maybe his shot will be more potent than whatever she has.

| I was still seeing the grain like pinkish white worms in his poo last Sunday. I was so fed up. So I took Dolce to the Dr Last Monday and he gave him a shot in his back. Well maybe an hour later he passed what may have been a 8 inch or more tape worm. It grossed me out. I also cleaned our house really good. You have to make sure you get rid of the fleas. He had a dose of Advantage and I gave him 2 baths in Hartz flee wash. I also had read if you use Lemon scent Joy liquid detergent soap then it kills the fleas. So I did that. Because my vet said if you don't treat the dog each month for fleas the worms will come back. I would take the dog back to the vet and tell them it's tape worms. The look like little grains of rice. They also will stick to the hair around the bum. Everyone has been so nice on the website. I just had a gut feeling myself that we had the wrong the medicine because the worms weren't going away. He seems healthy to me know. He still has an ear infection. Our breeder had offered to give the puppy another worming but I thought heck no he got the fleas and worms from there. Plus you are right breeders don't have that strong of medicine. So I would ask the Vet for the shot. Worms are contagious. So wash you hands ie after picking up poop. Make sure to wash any bedding Mitzee sleeps on. Vacuum regularly. Mitzee will be fine. Don't get dicouraged. Good luck..... |
