| Adopting today, lots of feeding questions We may be adopting a male almost 4 yr old Yorkie today. I went to Pet Smart yesterday and looked at foods. I saw that Royal Canine has one just for Yorkies. Has anyone experience with this food? I am also wondering how much to feed? Are they grazers or do they eat once or twice a day? Thank you |

| Congratulations on your new addition! Royal Canin YT formula isn't a horrible food, and many do well on it, but it isn't the best food, either. First you have to decide whether you want to feed kibble (high protein or lower), canned, homecooked or raw. Then start doing some research. For a kibble, you want a high quality food with great ingredients. Wellness, Innova, Nature's Variety and Orijen are popular choices. Look for a food with one or more proteins as the first few ingredients. You do not want any corn or by-products anywhere in the ingredients. There are many helpful threads on this site about feeding and how to decide on a high quality food.
