| Paco was previously on Royla Canin - Yorkshire but his skin was dry and itchy and he was constantly vomiting. I was told to try Halo (salmon) and he's doing great! His skin has cleared up and his coat is shiny!!

| Yes Lily doesn't really like dry food. Here's what the vet told me to do: Take a small tupperware container. Put however much dry food for a day in it. Then add water up to the line of kibble. Make sure you put the water in second! Cover and refrigerate over night. In the morning mush it and you've got canned food in the brand you want. Make sure not to make too much though so it doesn't go bad. |

Yorkie Talker | Raw Food Have my yorkie since 9 weeks on Natures Variety, shiny coat, lots of energy, not itching nor stomach problems, poop not very smelly. She is 9 months now, both raw and dry of same brand, and 2 year old Jack Russell on same food since pup. Last edited by mikep; 09-06-2009 at 05:05 PM. |

| Thanks guys for all the wonderful responses we finally ran out of our old food and started Taste of the wild high praire formula yesterday, they where not as excited as i was hoping they would be but yet they prefer wet food too... I think i will try your tip about weting it over night in the fridge to make it more appealing.... then I'll post the results! i often put tuna juice or chicken broth over for flavor and to change up their flavors but not every day. Hopefully they will get more excited with this diet if not I think we will go raw it seems to work so well for many of you. i am just worried it will be alot of upkeep... and of course pricey.

| Just switched to NV Raw. Remy loves it, but he was never really a picky eater (for homecooked food). He never liked kibble, tried multiple times. Figured I'd stop fighting a losing battle... Raw is pretty easy to manage - at the suggestion of a few posters here who feed Raw... I break the big bag down into single portion servings (4 medallions in our case) and each serving goes in a small sandwich zip locs. They are stowed in the freezer. Each night I take one out and stick in the refrigerator. They are defrosted and ready to serve the following day. We are on our second week of Raw so I can't comment on its effect on his coat or skin yet... hoping it will benefit him through the cold weather (less skin dryness...). Regarding expense, IMO you "are what you eat" so I am hopeful the "investment" in better food will help us avoid longer term medical expenses by him being very healthy |

| Oliver has been a nightmare to find food for. When I got him he was on Before Grains chicken, which is a high quality food so I kept him on it. He had 3 bouts of vomiting and diarrhea, and that was enough for me to switch him off that high protein food. It took a while to find one he likes, think I went through 4 different kinds of kibble. He is now on Science Diet for sensitive stomachs, and is doing well on it. I've noticed his stools are hard and they've always always been really soft. He's still getting those yucky eye boogers though. He gets omega 3 oil on breakfast and water on dinner to make it mushy. He really likes it.

| We feed all our dogs Nature's Variety Prairie. Occasionally we mix in some Nature's Variety Instinct too. All 5 love it and are doing very well on it. It is for all life stages and the kibbles are pretty small too. Last edited by sganow; 09-07-2009 at 06:48 AM. |

| Raw.... Snickers has been on Nature's Variety Raw for awhile now. He gets 2 medallions per day and we have Evo kibble out for him 24/7. Any food/treats we give him are grainfree and his appearance is incredible! I will never change him from raw unless he refuses to eat it. Feeding him has never been a problem since switching to raw. He did get picky about flavors but we fixed that. (He loves Lamb & Venison) Feeding raw is not much upkeep at all!! It's too easy actually, you just have to remember to defrost. I defrost 3 days worth at a time and it works well. Everyone always comments on how soft, shiny, and silky his coat is and he smells sweet, not that "doggie" smell. I owe it all to his diet. Snickers does have eye-boogers, I have tried so many things to conquer it, but I think it is just something we will have to deal with. Hope TOTW works for you!!!! Good Luck -Snick & Viv

| Good dog food Hi I have two Yorkies: Calleigh, age 2 and Patti, age 5. I started feeding them Orijen dog food and they are thriving. Their coats are much softer now and they both seem to have more energy and are very, very alert. They love food time - which says a lot for the Food they are kibbles. LindaBedilia, Calleigh, Patti |

| We just officially made the switch to Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul & my 2 yorkies LOVE it! I got a ton of free samples from companies & did a lot of trials. They liked TOTW, but that food is pretty expensive, and they really like Chicken Soup as well. Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul gets a score of 117 on the dog food rating chart (can be found here on YT or other dog food rating sites), and anything over 100 is an A+. My dogs' coats are shiny & they are very happy & healthy. I'm glad I made the switch!
