| My boy will not eat unless I hand feed him! Help! My ziggy will not eat unless I hand feed him... I just adopted him a week ago.. He is 10 months old... I onpy feeds him dry food... I would leave the food in his bowl and he will go sniff it and walk away from it... But when I pick up the food with my hand he will eat it off my hands... I'm not sure if he doesn't like the food or he is judy spoiled... My thing is if he doesn't like it then how come he still eats it from my hand? I did catch up getting a bite here and there from the bowl but never a lot... I'm new at this... Can someone help me? I dont want my dog to starve...Should I change his food? If so what kind is good, healthy and not so pricey? Thanks in advance! |

| Roscoe did this when I first got him. I was feeding him Natural Balance and I guess he didn't care for it cause when I switched him to Taste of the Wild, he would gladly gobble it up!

Yorkie Talker | I have the same problem with Harley. I have to hand feed him. He is so picky. I have tried sprinkling cheese on his dry. I have tried different brands. I have tried can foods. If it is dogfood, he won't eat it. He wants what we eat. He will eat about a teaspoon full and he is done. He is healthy. He weighs 2lb 3 oz and is 1 yr old. |

YT 2000 Club Member | I as having trouble getting my little Jeter to eat out of a dog dish back when he was under a year of age. I just happened to catch an episode of "Its me or the Dog" with Victoria Stilwell just when I was losing hope and thinking i was alway's going to have to hand feed him. Anyway's she had a Yorkie named Bailey on and he was a spoiled little guy, Bailey insisted on eating at the table with his mommy, she even feed him with a fork.. Bailey would not eat from his doggy dish at all. Victoria put his food on a little tea cup plate and set it on the ground and he ate up his food with NO problems. I tried it out and it worked for Jeter too! Now I like to check out the Antique shops for cute little plates for Jeter's food.

My Lil Man! Donating Member | Gizmo used to like it when I hand fed him each bite of food and I thought he was totally spoiled but then I started feeding Lifes Abundance and he just gobbles it down on his own. He loves it so much he wont even let me think about feeding it to him anymore! |

| Stella does this too...she'll eventually eat out of a bowl, but I don't think she likes the feeling of putting her face in the little bowl. So, now I just put her food on her placemat or on a paper plate when I give it to her. She scarfs it until she's full then. Also, I have been feeding her Natural Balance but she's getting bored with it--supposedly it's a "bland" food, so I'm trying taste of the wild, hopefully she'll like that better! |
