HELP! 6 Weeks old yorkie wont eat... I got my Toby yesterday, and today he took the biggest dump of his life. 3 of them to be exact, he also relieved himself numerous times throughout the day. I figure after all of that he would be starving and thirsty, but he refuses to eat anything at all. He's only 6 weeks old and the food is soft canned food I also tried to give him his usual hard dog food that the previous owners fed him. What should I do in a situation like this?

| Oh my goodness! 6 weeks is so young. Give Toby some Nutrical so he doesn't crash on you. Also, try any of the following....Gerber chicken sticks, cottage cheese, plain yogurt, any kind of puppy food. This little guy needs to eat and drink. You might try calling your vet too, they can give you suggestions also. Keep Toby warm and keep his surroundings calm. He sounds a little stressed. Keep us posted.

If you can't get anything down him.....get him to the vet. With that much elimination in such a short time he will crash on you. He sounds very stressed, and may need vet help........don't delay....don't panic just don't delay, he's too young to make it without food and water.

Oh My Gosh I have one word....VET. I just had a problem like this with my baby Pebbles. She would not eat. Try taking some of his dry food and mixing it with water or if it is can food try putting it with water also and feeding it to him in a syrenge(spelling) MAKE HIM EAT. Pebbles was 7 weeks old and I could not get her to eat anything until 2 weeks later. For 2 weeks she was on and off of iv's getting fluids. She had attack of hypoglycemia one after another. I wish you all the luck in the world. My poor baby couldn't make it. Sorry I am not trying to scare you just make him eat. I had to wake up every 30 min. with mine to feed her.

Mine personally liked the pellets. She was 8 oz at 7 weeks just about the same as your baby. The vet told me that for her weight/size no more than 10 pellets at MOSt. He said a good "meal" for her at her size was 6-8 pellets. Good luck with your baby if you have any questions please feel free to ask me. I will try to help the best I can.

My puppy is 4 months old and I got her 2 months ago, she would not eat for the first 6 weeks. She spent those weeks with me, back to the breeder and the vet. We spent $800 on all kinds of tests and nothing wrong. We fed her through a feeding thing for babies and held her mouth opened, thats how we gave her water too. I got her back 2 weeks ago, and fed her liversaugae mixed with boiled chicken, and nutrical 2 times a day, with hard food out, and she would eat all, very slowly but she ate. For the last week now we have her on hard food only. and she is doing good. How we did the hard food was to throw her pieces and she would go chase them and eat them. Now she eats out of the bowl with no problem (sometimes we still through her food to just to play). So good luck! Don't forget the nutrical when shes not eating. 6 weeks is realy young, some breeders don't let them go till 3 months. Jeanne
