The formula for figuring out the dosage for Childrens Liquid Benedry is:

Your dogs body weight times 5 divided by 12.5 = dose in cc/ml

To figure out your dogs body weight you have to convert ounces to pounds...

EX: a dog that weighs 4 pounds 10 ounces would weigh 4.625 pounds

you must take the 10 ounces and divide by 16 then add the 4 pounds...
10 divided by 16 = .625 + 4 =4.625

4.625 X 5 divided by 12.5 =1.85 cc/ml

9 x 5= 45
45 divided by 12.5 = 3.6ml

Well okay, it's easy when you don't have to deal with ounces.

OH, another important piece of information about benadryl. It can only be given every 8 hours.

hey,

here is a copy and paste that i just posted in the sick forum
my furbaby Bindi has been having these really weird episodes and its cause is eluding my vet.

Bindis eyes get all dilated and its like she cant see. She bumps into walls walks aimlessly, cannot focus on anything. She drools and doesnt keep her mouth closed. she needs her snout wet all the time and keeps standing in her water. she cannot stop walking around the house and is really restless.

They have performed a urinalysis which came out clean, blood test which came out clean, and a culture that came out clean. She also had xrays which again, came out clean.

She has had this episodes about 4 times now and each time we go the vet has no idea what is wrong. She said next time it happens I will need to see a specialist. So it just started back up and I will all tomorrow to get an appt with this specialist.

Any ideas of what it could be?

it is really scary and sad to see this happening. she is just 1.5 yrs old and has never had any health issues like this before.

yes, at 6 months of age or so. prior to her spay.

yes

she said she may have eaten something without my knowledge outside or in the house. but i dont see what it can be inside....

We are very vigilant now when we walk her or take her in the yard so that she doesnt eat anything.

How scarey! Does the benadryl help her?

I really hope that you get some answers soon. It must drive you nuts not knowing what's wrong with her.

i'm not very good at this yet, but did they check for hypoglycemia, i know sometimes i've read that dogs will seem out of it and run into things and some of those similar symptoms...

it's probably not that at her age, so yea the specialist might help you there!
