Best Food for Allergies?

i try to avoid dexamothesone shots as those last longer in the system them the pill forms and a much stronger dose than pill forms of steroids so that would be the last resort if your dog is not responding to temarilp

I feed a raw diet and I know that it's not for everyone, however I did want to pipe in here and say that a lot of people on the rawfeeding site I belong to have had success with a raw diet. It might be worth researching and seeing if maybe it's for you....

i did raw for 6 months and did not help my girl i think it was because it was natures variety though but now afraid after having her on immune suppressant drugs

I'm curious as to why you say this about NV? I feed NV raw and all of mine do great on it - especially the one with food allergies.

It comes down to all dogs being different.
For us, Purina HA did nto work for Ellie's SIBO and IBD issues.
It did make her stool firm...so firm that she could barely go and I had to give pumpkin for a month while trying the food so she could go regularly.

There are also different types of steroid injections. I wouldn't go with the one that lasts a month or more. Some last for maybe a week and actually Ellie did well with it...

because it has too many ingredients in it for most allergy dogs and the better ones for allergies is primal as it has less ingredients in it and many on my allergy dog group do better on that then the natures variety. Also the rabbit food has chicken fat i believe and the chicken the bones in it are big as a friend of mine was feeding it too. DD was no better on natures variety She still itched alot. She even itched on 12 week food elimination diet of pinto beans and white potato so hers is more environmental which is 90% of the time where as food is 10% of the time.

could be your dogs ibd is in large intestines and may be why the issue as dex is in small intestines so that may be the difference - trust me i hate all vet foods lol but it works so i have to stick with it as any time he gets anything like a week ago i gave him a teeny piece of yam as i pill dd with yam - he vomitted from that tiny piece from 10pm to 5 am and almost had to hospitalize him as thought it was pancreatitis again and thought it was only fatty foods and ims said any food can trigger it once they have had it as it has to do with digestive enzymes and once they get pancreatitis they are prone to getting it real easy if any food change even if the tiniest bit

One of the other reasons Primal may be better for allergy dogs is that NV contains flax - many dogs actually don't do well on it, it drives my Wylie nuts! I think there is only one formula in Primal (the chicken) that has flax. Like you, I appreciate that Primal uses less ingredients.
