| Mucusy Stool With Traces of Blood I'm really worried about Stellina she had one very large stool this morning and then started squatting and passing what looks like mucus with traces of a little blood in it. She doesn't want her food or drink any water, but offer her some cheerios and she'll gooble them right down or any other treat, no water though. She's still very playfull and seems to have alot of energy taking her in at 12:00 to see the vet. Anyone have any idea what this could be. She is a little gluton and had some raw cauliflower, toast with penutbutter, blueberries, and cheerios yesterday, oh those were just snacks by the way, she eats orijin and fromm. She's 5 months and weighs 6.5 lbs. |

| mucous is the body's response to irritation. It could be as simple as over indulgence in vegetables and her bowel is irritated or it could be worms or coccidia or giardia. When was her last fecal? When was she wormed last? If she develops really smelly very loose poops I would take a sample to the vet to test for coccidia. How old is she? ruth

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry she is sick. A couple of mine get that once in awhile. One has colitis and will have a stool like that and my vet gave me medicine to use when she has an episode. I also keep mine on a very strict diet, one type of food and the same brands dog biscuit and Zukes salmon treats. Any variation in her diet causes mucousy and sometimes bloody stool. She also has had 2 episodes of HGE when it got real bad so I am glad you got her in the vet today.

| I've been having the same problem with my puppy Bailey, I've been to the vet a couple of times, he was treated for coccidia even though it didn't show up in the stool sample. He had roundworm eggs in it though and I've been treating him. The only thing I can think of that is causing this for Bailey is the kibble I was feeding him, I put him on chicken and potato and he had normal poops, go back to the kibble and he'll have a bad poop again. I ordered Wellness kibble online, I'm hoping it won't give him any problems. Please keep us posted on little Stellina, all the best to you both, I know what a horrible feeling it is to see something not right with your puppy.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Similar thing happened to Roxy when she was around 4-5 mo. Had already had her on two different foods, but same problem although her appetite was still good. Decided to try Wellness & she's had no problems since. So maybe a change of food brand is in order. Hope it's a simple thing like that for you.

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Tia had mucus stools about a couple of months ago, if you look at my thread it well freaked me out seeing blood coming out of my baby. As it turned out she had gastro .The vet gave her some meds and she was right as rain in a day or so . Keep us updated. Hope your baby is better soon. x

| Thanks guys, well wer're back and it's quite serious she's been diagnosed as being a PORKIE not a Yorkie lol ..........sorry if I scared anyone I'm just so happy nothing is wrong with her. GabrielleW was right on the money she overindulged and now has an irritated bowl. I feel like a terrible mom just wanted her to be happy by giving her what she wanted ....spoiled little brat. So basically only her dog food and treats No human foods, she also found that she has an ear infection she says that's a sign of food allergy ........ so well wait and see. She gave her meds for the loose stools and ear infections. I asked her if I can give her some chicken and rice and she said no only dog food for her. Thanks again for all your concers xo |
