Doesn't like RAW!?!

Oh no!!!! Thats so disappointing for you, you're trying so hard! Some dogs just don't like it I guess . Snick's fav are chicken and lamb...he jumps for the chicken. I hope you get to experience raw as well!!

Check and see if what she is spitting out is a bone. Bella did that for awhile because she had a hard time chewing them up. We ended up picking the larger one's out because of her teeth, she just had a hard time with it. NV also has sample packages of the Raw you can try. You may want to see if there is something she likes better.

Thank you! Did Bella take a bite and then spit it out, or not try it to begin with? I didn't think it's the bones, because she's refusing to even taste it.
Does NV have free samples, or just smaller packages for a lesser cost?

lamb and venison are the two that milu dislike as well. (venison gives milu very runny poop)

milu tolerates the organic chicken and beef.

NV doesn't give out free samples. at least not for the frozen foods. hopefully the store you go to sell the sampler one.

otherwise, you might want to check other brands of raw. milu is now eating primal, and she likes that better than NV for some reason. (milu is also a VERY picky eater, i put treats on top of each bite of her food for her)

AMD--check out what the primary protein source of the kibble she enjoyed most. Try that meat/protein. Snick always liked chicken based kibbles more than anything and that's what I started with when transitioning to raw and it worked, he loved it.

I guess Organic chicken seems to be the flavor picky eaters will tollerate. She's not a picky eater with her kibble, but she's not liking the raw.

She still refused.
Last night I 'burried' some raw in ground beef and she was eating it until she smelled the raw and realized I was tricking her.
I gave her cottage cheese this morning with a itty witty bitty piece of raw which she ate, but I don't think she knew it.

The primary source of her kibble is Lamb. She doesn't seem to mind any flavor of kibble, which is why I though she'd love raw. Venison is also included in her kibble, but not as a primary source.



The ingredients of EVO red meat, which she's been eating:

Beef, Lamb Meal, Potatoes, Egg, Sunflower Oil, Buffalo, Lamb, Venison, Beef Cartilage, Herring Oil, Natural Flavors, Apples, Carrots, Tomatoes, Alfalfa Sprouts, Garlic, Cottage Cheese, Potassium Chloride, Vitamins/Minerals, Ascorbic Acid, Dried Chicory Root, Direct-Fed Microbials, Vitamin E Supplement, Lecithin, Rosemary Extract

Just thought of another tip - you could try putting some chicken broth (low salt) on the food.

I'm pretty sure The Honest Kitchen offers free samples if you e-mail them. If not, I have a couple of sample packs I'd be happy to send to you if you want (one contains chicken for the raw/protein, and the other needs to have a protein added to it). I got them from the place I buy my regular food & I keep thinking I'll try them, but I've never bothered since my guys really like what they're already eating. Just let me know!

Oh Thanks!! I'll contact them and see if I can get a free sample, because she is not going to eat this NV. The Honest Kitchen is considered raw right?

No, it's not really considered raw, but you may find it an acceptable alternative. This is a quote from the Honest Kitchen's website. I've deleted a couple of paragraphs that weren't relevant to this discussion.
