| Retained puppy teeth My little guy will be 7mon July 8th. His upper baby canines and molar teeth have not come out. His adult teeth have grown in around them but the baby teeth aren't budging. Should I take him to the vet and have them removed or give it some more time? |

| I would ask the vet, they can tell if the teeth will come out on their own or not. Missy needed hers removed during her spay at 7 mos of age. The vet was worried that her adult teeth weren't going to move into position properly because the baby teeth were in the way and had her adult teeth out of line. They straightened out after the baby teeth were pulled though. I'm glad that we did it.

| Well, if he's anything like Curly, all you had to do is post this and the canines will fall right out! hahaha. I asked this question the other day. Two days later, the first one came out, the next day, the last one came out! Good luck! |

| My little girl had all her adult teeth come in and the only baby teeth that stuck around were her canines so she had 4 canines her adult and her baby and they weren't coming out. So I went to my vet and asked them if they were ever going to come out and he advised me to get them taken out as soon as possible because it would cause her to develop gingivitis, and I had noticed gunk between them. So that being said I got them taken out a couple days later and all her teeth adjusted properly. This may be the same case for you or not but I hope this helps! |

| I just called Apple's vet last week about this same situation....She has upper and lower canine teeth, baby and adult, so 8! He said not to worry about it until she was a year old, or he could take them out now, whatever I wanted to do...Since I'm not getting her spayed, 'till after her first heat, I'm taking his advice, and not worrying about it, 'till she's a year old....If there still there then, I'll have them out when he spays her....Apple is 7 months 3 weeks.... |

| Teddy had 6 retained baby teeth -- my vet removed them 2 weeks ago when Teddy was neutered at age 31 weeks. He had double rows of teeth and looked like a piranha so we were glad to have them out. He's much happier now too. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My boys' extra teeth were removed at the time of the neuter - has your baby been fixed yet? If not, you could do it then.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Jasper was neutered at six mon. and there was no problem at that time. I am going to make him an appt for next month to have them removed. I am hoping they will come out as I don't want to have him put under anesthesia again! Thanks everyone for the advice! Jasper was neutered at 6 mon old and there was not a problem at that time. I will make him a appt to have them removed next month if the problem doesn't resolve it's self. | |||

| We had Bandit neutered at 7 months and had 8 teeth pulled then. It worked out well so he only had to be under one time. Our new puppy is a girl. Should we wait to get her spayed in case we have the same issue with her teeth? |
