| Are there any good tricks? I am looking for a way to get my boy, Copper to eat. Maddie is in heat and they are being seperated. You would think that the seperation is painful to Copper he has been a total wreck for a week now. Hasn't touched his food or stopped whining for about 2 days. He drinks h2o but even refuses his faves. I wouldn't worry so much but he has lost about a 1/2lb from 4lb 12oz down to 4lbs 4oz. He is believed at this point to have mvd, and it is so so hard for him to put weight on. So if anyone knows how to get a girl crazy boy to eat I would love some ideas. Oh and Maddie has been her usual miss piggy gobbeling up every meal, but she has also lost about 2oz, I know that 2 oz isn't much but when she was growing it took her 3-4weeks to get those 2oz and I want them back Is it normal for a girl in season to loose weight too?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I think it's really hard on males when a female close by is in heat - and I think it's common that they don't eat. During these times, maybe you could try a canned food that is new for him (might be more enticing) - you could supplement w/ a little Nutrical too. Can he have fats? Bc you could also give peanut butter, which is dense in calories.

| What food is he on now and is he asymptomatic? Is it possible to take one of them to somebody else's house until she is done?

| try home cooked Hi, your dog might welcome some chicken and brown rice mixed with veggies during this time. Dogs that eat dog food often turn their noses up at it when they are not feeling well or stressed. But, a dog when offered delicious food like chicken often cannot resist the temptation. |

| I home cook for him, I have been just pureeing it a little finer the past few days, putting it in his mouth, a little at a time. He quickly eats it and then i do it again. It is like he is in panic mode or he lost his poor sweet mind. at this point it seem to be working. He has not had symptoms since I took him off of dog food and started cooking and supplementing. But did have symptoms before. I wish I could take him somewhere but I am home most of the time and every where else would have him crated or alone while they work. No good for my sweet man. She is comming out of heat now so I am on the upside of it. It just gets so scary for me when he looses weight or isn't getting the sups
