| Bad Breath My cutie pie has the worst breath ever!! She is only 6 1/2 months old and she eats her hard kibble Innova puppy. We brush her teeth every other day and wipe her teeth with teeth wipes on the other days. She chews on bones and has lost most of her teeth. I started to put dog mouthwash into her water to help, but it has done nothing to help. It was never like this before. She always had sweet breath and I had no issue smelling her yawns, but now...yuck! Any suggestions? |

| Until she has lost all of her teeth and her adult teeth come in, you will notice this smell. With Cohen, the smell would come and go, but I read that what causes some of it is where her baby teeth have fallen out, a hole is created and this hole can trap food and bacteria. Just stick with the brushing and sooner or later it will stop! Hope this was helpful!

YT 1000 Club Member | I understand about the breath thing. I hope your babies breath gets better after all the adult teeth are in. Roxie's 2 and she still has the worst breath ever. Some days of course are worse then others. She's a total turd when it comes to having her teeth brushed. Next time she goes to the groomer I'm going to take her toothbrush and let her do it. She said she would as long as I brought her the stuff. We'll see how that goes.

| Lolita seems to have constant morning breath so we bought a Pet breath spray. One spray a day and no more bad breath. It says it helps fight plac and gum disease also.

I had taken her to the Vet a few weeks ago and they checked her teeth and saw only a few baby teeth left. Lola was spayed before she came to me by her breeder (Kirista of SET). I see that her two top canines have adult teeth coming in right next to the baby teeth. I hope soon that they will come out otherwise, I will have to take her to the Vet to have them pulled. | |

| It is good to start teeth brushing at a early age . that way your gog can get use to it. Their are flavored tooth pastes out there. a toothbrush kit from the vet. It has a little finger brush and the toothbrush has two sides on it. One side has a smaller brush , it is perfect for a puppy.

| Baxter did the same thing, but it stopped when he got his adult teeth in. Hopefully it will for you.

| i hope you're joking! gum can cause your yorkie to choke. worse than that, sugar free gum sometimes contains a chemical which can cause your yorkie to get sick, and even die! (there''s a good thread on this a few days back) never keep gum anywhere near your baby!!!!!!!!!

| As others have said, until the baby teeth are gone, you can experience some rancid breath! Our little girl had a tooth that didn't want to come out. We brought her to a vet, he twisted that sucker out, and that made a huge difference. It can get REALLY foul underneath that baby tooth! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes good advice. The mixture of loose teeth/blood/food getting into gum pockets from missing teeth, isn't pleasant. I don't think this period lasts too long, and vets pulls remaining baby teeth during the spay or neuter. You never want them to have a double row of teeth, as this leads to food building up between the rows. We brush with dog toothpaste, use Petzlife, a tartar softening gel, and use Merrick Bully Stix, to help keep teeth clean. At almost 3 Joey's teeth and breath are perfect, and those Yorkie kisses are great to receive!

YT 1000 Club Member | Here's a link on how dangerous it is. Maybe you were just kidding but thought it couldn't hurt to put this out there. http://blog.syracuse.com/pets/2008/08/post_27.html
