| Got our puppy today and won't eat We got two furbabies today - Dakota & Sioux - bro/sister 11 weeks old--- and we are so in love! We picked them up around 3pm, and they drank some water, but we can't get them to eat - it is the same food as the breeder, but they won't touch it. We gave them some Nutrical 2 hours ago, but they don't want that either. I will post pics and more info later, but just need some help. Thanks! |

| Don't worry they are reacting to the stress of the new home, drinking water is good because they can get dehydrated quickly. Do you have a tube of nutrical? you can get it from a pet store or your vet, give them a dab on the tip of your finger if they don't start eating by tomorrow (check with your vet also regarding how much of the nutrical to give) I got my 7 yr old yorkie a year ago and she did not each the first day either. Even now (like many yorkies) she is a very picky eater!! Sometimes she won't eat an entire day. |

| Very typical for them not to eat in a new environment, that's why most breeders don't like to let their puppies go until at least 12 weeks of age and weighing at over 2 pounds. As stated above, NutriCal is your best bet....they'll come around.

| Hi How much do your little babies weigh?? Are they active? It might be the change in environment they are experiencing. I made sure I had some Karo syrup available just in case of hypoglycemia. I'm not an expert but I certainly understand your anxiety!! Someone is going to reply to you...just play with them and keep trying little pieces of canned food!! Take Care Sandy

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Congrats on your new babies. I would keep offering them food and give the nutrical. If possible check on them during the night to make sure they are not showing signs of low sugar and maybe give a little nutrical. When I got Cali she was 9 weeks and wouldn't eat and during the night went hypoglycemic so I fed her during the night for a few weeks. Keep us posted.

| My pup didn't eat the first day either (or go potty!). I was so nervous I stayed up all night and watched him, just to make sure his chest was still moving up and down lol. But like everyone says, they will come around. Congratulations on your babies! Can't wait to look at pics! |

| Hi there and Welcome to YT ! Congradulations on your two little babies! My Suzi did the same thing when I first brought her home. I was also very nervous, and that was one of my first posts about her not eating! Try to have both puppies in a quiet environment. Too much activity , or visitors all at once in a new home can be too overwhelming. Try to keep it very calm at your house so the puppies can become adjusted and not stressed out, because they are already going to be upset, and unsure of what's happening. Definately give them nutrical, or Kayro , rub it on their gums . You are going to have to do this because they could be at risk of Hypoglicemia, which if left untreated can be deadly. Suzi ended up eating in the middle of the night that first day she was home, thankfully she was OK! I did use the Kayro on her , thanks to YT Offer the new pupies food all the time and fresh water, leafe it out for them. And make sure they know where the food is. It may seem silly , however a new puppy can easily be confused in new surroundings. I would also be checking on your puppies through out the night. Thye need to be moniterd closely until they start eating on a regular basis.

| Congrats on the new babies. Wish I'd gotten two instead of a single. Kyrstal didn't eat real well the first day or so. But I made sure she could free feed kibble, that she spent lots of time in "her" space in my bathroom that I blocked off with a gate. this was so she could feel more secure. And I also hand feed a couple of soft treats to make sure she would eat. I didn't have any issues with low blood sugar. She came around. But I have to say that she has her moods when it comes to eating even now. She is almost totally "off" her kibble. I just have to keep reminding myself of her very small tummy. |

| When I got my last baby Brody he was very small and he didn't want to eat once we got him home. He had a long flight with his breeder (she brought him to me) and feed him baby food and nutra-cal while they were traveling. I tried soaking his kibble in a little water and he liked it, I guess it was something different. I also mixed a little chicken baby food with his kibble and that helped as well. I also gave him nutra-cal ever few hours and made sure he ate every few hours even if it was only a few pieces at a time. It's a lot of work at first but it's all worth it to keep our babies healthy and happy. |

| Congratulations on your Babies. Love their names. Keep an eye on the food. Maybe put a few pieces of kibble in a bowl. Mine like to grab one piece at a time then come back for more. Good Luck and Welcome... |

| i had the same problem .my baby is 8 weeks today. i brought her home at 6 weeks so she was very tiny and should have still been with her mommy but for unforeseen reasons i had to pick her up. anyhow she was anxious or homesick and would not eat .she would lick at water so i put a fourth teaspoon of nutracal in her water as that was what it said on how much to give by her weight. she started eating the very next day .in the night i put a tiny bit inside her mouth if she would not lick it off my finger. also when put some canned chicken puppy food in her softened hard food she really went for it. |

| I got Gracie Belle a week ago today. The very first day she ate fine once we arrived home. Sunday she wouldn't eat all day! We gave her Nutrical but it made me really nervous that she wouldn't eat. Finally about 6 in the evening I boiled a chicken breast. Once it cooled I chopped it up fine and mixed some up with her dry food. She ATE the whole bowl and wanted more!! |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Congratulations. They are adorable. My Silky wouldn't eat either. But he loved it if I tossed his kibble across the floor. He would chase it and then eat it. I would just do one little piece at a time and pretty soon he started eating out of his bowl. Good luck. |
