| Fish Oil Capsules I was told that omega 3 fish oil was a good supplement to give my Yorkie to make her coat extra shiny. I've been giving her the contents of one fish oil capsule daily. She loves it and is eager to eat her food when I add it. If I don't, she is ambivalent about eating. Does anyone else give this to their furbaby?

| I have in the past, but the new diet I'm feeding is fish-based so she's getting plenty of fish oils that way. It's perfectly safe to use those capsules, and Omega-3s have all kinds of benefits beyond just skin and coat-- in humans at least they have been tentatively linked to reducing the rate of cancer, and improving both mobility and cognitive function.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks for this info. I've been researching supplements to add to Lulu's diet recently. I'll look into adding Omega 3 Fish Oil to her food.

| I give both of my dogs a fish oil capsule daily. I don't need to put it on their food. They eat the entire capsule! They both chew it... |

| Lady has been getting 3V Caps for years. Not only is it good for the coat, it really helps build the immune system which is great for allergic dogs like Lady. |

And the most interesting thing is that her coat seems more shiny today (I gave it to her twice already, yesterday and today). I wonder if the effect could be so quick???? Thanks for the great advice!

| How are you all giving the caps? Is it the kind that's liquid inside a gummy caspule? If I give a whole cap won't it burst and leak oil all over the fur? I only feed Uni dry kibble, so would I squeeze it onto her kibble?

| Fish Oil Capsule I puncture the end of the gel capsule very carefully and then just squeeze the oil onto Lily's food. She loves it. As soon as she sees me get the bottle out, she starts turning circles and jumping!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I really like fish oil for dogs. I don't like the capsules bc they can be so messy, but I do like Ark Naturals Royal Coat - it's made for dogs and also has the needed extra 10 IU of Vitamin E in it (needed for digestion/absorption of fatty acids).
