| Don't use Eukanuba or Iams!! When I first got Tinker I fed her Eukanuba, because that is what the breeder suggested. Well, come to find out that it was making her sick. She would throw up and have diahrrea. For the longest time we could not figure out what was making her sick. We thought it may be from stress, but eventually I decided to change her food and see what happens. In a week she was 100% better. Then my friend told me she had to take her shih tzu in for surgery, because they found a mass in his intestines. Turns out it was a ball of gas. Ended up being the Iams. So she had to pay $2000 to find this out. The main problem with these foods is that they are full of corn, which is hard for them to digest and it isn't just our lil' babies that are affected it's many breeds. I had a 22 lb. mini schnauzer a couple years ago, and she was very sick as well. I only wish I new this before and I may have been able to make her last years more comfortable. So if you use this brand and are wondering why your pup is not feeling well try changing their food. One more tidbit, it is also way way too high in fat and causes them to be hyper active. I know puppies are already that way, but believe me you'll see a difference. A suggestion is ID. You can get it in soft or hard. It is Tinker's wonder food =). |

| Many of the best foods keep the fat and protein level where they should be. Eukanuba could be hard to digest so can Royal Canin TY28. I won't use a food that is that high in fat and has corn. SD is all hype I think. I like....... Solid gold (but mine won't eat it) Wellness Natural Balance Flint River and off the shelf Nutro Natural Choice. This is just what I think everyone has to feed their dogs the way they feel is best. |

| Tinkertoy- I have a question.I use the ID bland diet for my Luigi. My vet gave it to me. Can you only get from the vet or can you get it from the pet store? The stores around here don't have it. And I would like to try the hard food. |

| I was just going to look that up. I usually get it from the vet only because I haven't looked to see if they sell it anywhere else. I am going to look around and if I find anything I will let you know. |

| I swear by eukanuba because its the only kibble that hasnt given my babies gases, diarrea or smelly poop. Not all yorkies are the same,I spent hundreds of euros trying to find the right food for my two and the only food that has agreed with them in all areas is Eukanuba. They love it. I have tried royal canin, iams, science diet etc..the list goes on,and in the end eukanuba worked the best. |

| You are definitely right every yorkie is different. The only reason I posted this is that the dog I had my entire life past away a couple years ago, and towards the end of her precious life she had the same problems that my little Tinker had when she was on Eukanuba. It is a very hard thing to see your dogs be that sick and in that much pain. It just breaks my heart, and I just don't anyone to have to go through anything like that. I mean when your dog is sick it is like watching your child get sick, and when it takes months to figure out what is causing it makes it worse. I have just heard many complaints and thought I'd pass the info on. If someone was telling me this I would just not even try it, because I wouldn't take the chance of my little one getting so sick. There aremany dogs that use this brand and it doesn't affect them. I just want what is best for everyone's little angel. |

| I can't speak for anybody else, but for me personally I just want to make sure that what I am giving Gracie is healthy for *her*. I don't eat a bunch of processed food with fillers and I won't feed it to my baby either! Now, do I feed Wellness to my other two dogs? No, because they are bigger and heartier than the baby is. I did feed Wellness to Kaya (my 3 year old Shih Tzu) when he was a baby, and he's always been very healthy. I was feeding Gracie Royal Canin because that's what the breeder had her on, and in the past couple of weeks she's become extremely picky about her food, and won't eat it. I wasn't wild about giving it to her anyway and was going to change her to Wellness when she got a little older but it ended up being the right time now, I guess! I just like the fact that Wellness food's first ingredient is deboned chicken, and it's made with human grade food products. I feel it's the best choice for Gracie because she's so small and fragile, and her immune system needs to be built up as much as possible. I *do* give her some people food on occasion, just nibbles here and there. She eats a spoonful of cottage cheese almost every day and loves it! It's all personal preference....

| WOW....... I am sorry that Eukanuba has not been a good dog food for many of you. I didnt realize it was full of fillers? I buy the "lamb and rice' and it has been an excellent source of nutrition for my dogs. Nice formed, small stools and I have only had two bouts of vomitting here and it was a nervous new dog tummy and then it was gone. I spend a ton on it, but I do switch back to other foods to give variety ( less expensive) and I notice the stools are larger.........I figure because its less digestible. |

| im wondering how much to feed at every meal, Chelsey gets royal canin junior, i wonder if this is a good brand and i wonder if she gets enough, she always seems to be hungry, she is gaining weight nicely but i remember when my previous yorkies were pups they hardly ate, this 1 just loves food and if she gets the chance she will go to labrador's food and help her eat, but i dont allow it coz she gets different food and they are bigger in size, she could choke in them... does anyone know how much she is suppose to have? she is almost 11 weeks and weighs 10 ounces she also gets inbetweens. any advice is welcome thank you |

| When I got Tinker she was 3 mos. and I had to find a way to make her eat, but she was sick when I got her. When she finally got healthy she would go through stages where she would eat constantly if I would have let her, and then she would be very picky. I bet when she start losing teeth her appetite will decrease. Her breeder told me that once they get older and their weight levels out then she may only eat once a day. For now I would suggest free feeding her. Whenever her bowl is empty fill it up. Considering she is so little she needs as much vitamins, nutrients, and all that good stuff. Make sure she is eating at least every 3 hours until she is at least a pound. Not like a full meal every time, but at least a little. The most important thing is building up her fat storage, because that is what they rely on when their blood sugar drops. I have heard Royal Canin is good, but I don't know a lot about it. I use ID and it works really good for my little one. If you notice that her poops look like "raspberry jam" then I would get the ID soft food, and feed it to her for a week or two, and then you can give her the ID hard food. ID is a bland diet that is easy to digest. Hope this helps |

We give our yorkie royal Canin he will not eat anything else. When we got him from the breeder he was on perina rice and chicken and then just stoped eating. Yorkies are very picky eaters .. we find chester eats when he wants too not when we feed him. We can put his food in his crate at 12:00pm and he wont eat it until 12:00 am. That is just how he is.. so his food is always availible for him. | |

| I am a firm believer.......when u bring your yorkie home and if they act like they wont eat.......hand feed them........people food if you have too......frequent feedings are extremely important.......they dont have to stay on it but I dont know to many dogs that turn down ham, chicken, or steak. Yorkies are loyal and I feel they have a hard time adjusting to new situations, that is why its very important to keep things comfortable at first........a safe haven........special food, fresh water............and tons of affection. Its so important........... |

| Puppy Food and feeding I have been feeding my puppy who is 4 months Natural Choice which she seems to like. But lately she hasn't been eating as well. I am not home during the day to monitor her but at night I will mix the dry food with a little bit of wet food. Is that bad?? |

| ........Do you eat out alot?.........if you do bring a tiny portion of your hamburger home or a bit of chicken from your salad, or if you bring dinner home give a little to your baby or at least offer it. .........I have found that if I offer something I am eating and they still wont eat it, they will start to eat the dogfood!.........whats up with that! But it is an honest experience try it let me know if it works for you, anything is worth while if they wont eat........Id say they miss you. If you wet the dogfood, use somethijg that makes them interested, NOT WATER, use a vitamin gravy, or milk(very little) just my humble suggestion!
