Donating YT 30K Club Member | Could it be that it is hotter now? If she keeps it up I would have her tested for diabetes and kidney issues. Hopefully it is nothing other than her being thirstier.

| If it is just a one day thing- I wouldn't worry too much- see how the next 2 days go- Layla has days- like today- that she drinks more- i think we are all like that. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Keep a very close eye on this and see if it goes back to normal. If it doesn't, please see the vet asap so you can rule-out diabetes, Cushing's, kidney/liver etcetera. Here is a short blurb on "polyuria" (excessive urinating) - which often coincides w/ excessive drinking; it lists what the causes could be: Urinating Frequently (Polyuria) Can Be a Sign of Serious Disease in Pets

| If it is still happening in the morning, I'd see the vet. Any change in drinking at all can indicate a problem and it could be as simple as a UTI or something.

| She's a bit young for diabetes, but unspayed female dogs are the group most at risk for canine diabetes. Has she been spayed? If her excess drinking continues, please take her to your vet asap. |

| My little one had these same symptoms last year. Drinking and peeing constantly and looked "sad" and just "not well." Waited one day, didn't get better-took her to the vet and it was a UTI easily treated with antibiotics. Please keep a close eye on her as UTI's can travel further up the urinary tract to the kidneys and cause great pain to our little ones. Hope she is feeling better this morning |

| Hey All, Finally got a chance to reply. She slept thru the night just fine. Oddly enough, she didnt pee more than usual. We are going to try to keep a close eye on her today. Thus far she seems ok. I am at work though till 530-6 :-S Some back story in case it may shed some light.... Last Friday my sister came to town for a visit. She stayed with us. While here, my brother, her best friend, her best friend's baby, and her boyfriend as well as another couple spent a lot of time at our house (most slept over for the weekend). Then on tuesday everyone went home/back to work. She seemed sad about the emptiness and would sleep all dya and keep me up allll night. This happened from tuesday night to saturday night. Last night she slept thru the night and not the day. yesterday she also started drinkikng a bunch. I dont believe there is a correlation but wanted to mention just in case as many here know better than i. I hope this is a one time occurence bc maybe she was hot. we live in south florida so it is pretty warm but not inside :-?? anyways, thanks for all the insight guys, i will update you on how she is once i get home. thank you all!

| She may have been preoccupied with your guests and didn't drink enough during their visit. She may have become dehydrated which can make her not feel so good. As always, a vet check can't hurt, and would ease your mind. Stuff caught early is always easier to fix than if you wait.
